In January 2024, Smashing Pumpkins announced a public call for a new guitarist for their tour later that year.
Four months later, on April 26, the band revealed that their new guitarist was none other than Kiki Wong.
Kiki is a Los Angeles-based musician who was the guitarist for the band Vigil of War.
The Californian played drums for Taylor Swift’s performance of Shake It Off at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards.
She reacted to the news on Instagram, saying, “It’s been an absolutely wild journey, but I’m so honored and humbled to have been chosen to perform alongside some of the greatest and most influential rock musicians of all time.
“I never thought that I, a 15-year-old boy, playing metal guitar in my room, would reach this moment.
“It shows that hard work and perseverance really pay off if you are willing to overcome difficulties, so never lose hope.
“I am so grateful for this opportunity and can’t wait to share the stage with the legendary Smashing Pumpkins!”

What did the band say about Kiki Wong?
Although Kiki Wong also praised Smashing Pumpkins in her social media post, her new tourmates also had good things to say about her.
Lead singer and band co-founder Billy Corgan released a statement full of praise for Kiki when he made the announcement.
He said: “I was a fan of Kiki before she submitted her name for consideration – and it’s great that someone with her insight will be part of our touring family.
“I can’t wait to hit the road with Kiki as part of our crazy circus.
“It’s definitely an exciting time for Smashing Pumpkins to be so busy touring in 2024.

When will Smashing Pumpkins be on tour?
The Smashing Pumpkins will go on tour in 2024. They will begin the European leg of their UK tour on June 7th.
The last stop in Europe will be in Greece, on July 16th.
The North American leg of the tour kicks off on July 29th in Washington DC.
With shows across the United States and Canada, they will end their North American tour on September 28th in San Diego, California.
