On Friday, the 30-year-old Grammy winner released her latest single, “Yes, And?”
With a house beat reminiscent of her friend Madonna’s “Vogue,” Grande ignores her detractors and all their comments and gossip.
“Now I’m tired of caring / What you think, no, I won’t hide / beneath your own projections / Or change my more authentic life,” she sings, later adding, “Don’t comment on my body, don’t respond / Your It’s your business and mine is mine / Why do you care so much about who? [d—] I walk / Why?”
Since her rise to global pop superstar, Grande has become a tabloid target. A joyful and euphorically challenging dance track, “Yes, And?” is her response to all the talk – about her appearance, her divorce, her new relationship and so on.
“Yes it is?” – who shares the powerful spirit of 2018 Sweetener and sassy attitude of 2019 thank you, next — is Grande’s first offering from her seventh studio album and her first since 2020 Positions. The “Rain on Me” singer recorded the track in New York City with longtime collaborators Max Martin and Ilya Salmanzadeh, who have produced some of her biggest hits.
Grande began teasing new music in December when she shared photos from a recording studio on Instagram. She finally announced “Yes, and?” on Monday, to the delight of her fans — and A-list friends like her labelmate Nicki Minaj, who commented, “We’re ready.”
The singer and actress – who will star as Glinda in the upcoming Evil film adaptation – is about to release the music video for “Yes, And?” on Friday morning at 10 a.m. ET.
