The nineties and nineties was a time when boy bands and girl bands dominated the airwaves.

Here’s everything we know about Dream – from when the group was formed to where its original members are today.

Dream were formed in 1998, but their first single, He Loves U Not, was not released until 2000.

Who is the American pop group Dream?

Dream is a girl group from Los Angeles, California, formed in October 1998.

Talent scout Debbie Fontaine selected four teenagers – Melissa Schuman, 14, Holly Blake-Arnstein, 13, Ashley Poole, 13, and Alex Chester, 13 – to make up the group, which was initially called First Warning.

The girl group auditioned for Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, before signing with Bad Boy Records.

After the successful audition, the band’s name was changed to Dream and they stopped working with Fontaine, who unsuccessfully tried to sue Diddy, Mellisa, Holly and Ashley.

Alex was replaced by Diana Ortiz in January 1999 – before Dream’s first single, He Loves U Not, was released in 2000.

The song was a success, reaching third position on the Billboard Hot 100.

Their debut album, It Was All a Dream, was released on January 23, 2001.

It reached number 6 on the Billboard 200 and sold more than 1.5 million copies.

The group then landed an opening spot on the TRL Live tour, which featured headliners Destiny’s Child, Eve and Nelly – the girls were only 14 to 16 years old at the time.

Melissa left the group in April 2002 because she was dissatisfied with the business surrounding her.

New member Kasey Sheridan came to record a new album, but the lead single Krazy was a flop, which led Bad Boy to drop Dream from their roster.

In the following years, the main formation ventured into different fields.

Diana, Melissa and Ashley transformed into Lady Phoenix, but nothing happened to their new group.

Ashley has also explored a solo career as a songwriter and artist.
