JOSH Mankiewicz has cast some serious shade over Dateline’s rival show 20/20.
Both true crime shows dive deep into investigative journalism and tell the stories of people across the United States.
In an interview shared on Thursday, Dateline correspondents Josh, 68, Keith Morrison, 77, and Andrea Canning, 52, talk about their show and podcast with The Hollywood Reporter.
The three hosts talk about their favorite Dateline episodes, professional disagreements, Bill Hader’s impression of Josh, and their rival TV shows 20/20 and 48.
The interviewer asked Josh, Keith and Andrea what they thought of the competition.
“I don’t like watching them because they do their thing. We do ours. You don’t want to be influenced,” Keith revealed.

Andrea added: “I can say that I like the way we tell our stories.”
Meanwhile, Josh didn’t hold back.
He said: “I don’t usually watch the competition. But when I do, I see them do things we wouldn’t do – things that skirt ethical boundaries we’d be more careful about.
“I think the reason we’re the number one true crime show is because we’re better at it than they are.”
He described what he meant by “ethical limits.”
“People who were brought in to provide soundbites, or people who are identified as reporters but who didn’t actually cover the story.
“We don’t call prosecutors because they are great interviews. We interviewed the prosecutor who actually tried the case.
“We don’t build sets. We don’t hire actors. Our competitors do some of these things.”
