On tonight’s episode of American Idol, Ryan gave a message in memory of the star.

“Before we take a break, I’d like to take a moment to honor a beloved member of the Idol family that we unfortunately lost this week, Mandisa,” Ryan told the American Idol audience.

“She was an inspiration during her time on this program and beyond,” he said.

“We will celebrate her next week with a special musical tribute”, declared the presenter.

“Our hearts go out to her family and all those who, like us, call her a friend,” Ryan concluded.

Mandisa competed on American Idol in the fifth season in 2006.

After finishing in the top 10 on Idol, Mandisa released her debut album, True Beauty, in 2007.

After competing on Idol, Mandisa produced several studio albums and was nominated for five Grammy Awards.
