AMERICAN Idol left fans upset with contestant Nya’s shocking elimination.
On Sunday night, the two contestants eliminated were Nya and Jordan Anthony.
The top 14 contestants performed in front of host Ryan Seacrest, judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie and guest mentor Gene Simmons of Kiss fame.
During the Top 14 round, the American Idol contestant performed two songs: Tyla’s Water and Aretha Franklin’s I Say a Little Prayer.
Although the Kiss bassist gave feedback and advice to the contestants, two singers had to leave at the end of the night.
Jordan and Nya didn’t get enough votes to make the Top 12.
THE RETURN
Fans criticized a rigged voting system that prevented their favorite artist from being kicked out.
Upset spectators jumped to the american idol account and unleashed their fury in the comments section of an Instagram post.
“I tried to vote for Nya TWICE and was told the vote was closed. And then she got voted out? This is suspicious and rigged! Do better!” one critic exploded.
“Why is voting closed?!” another critic asked.
“They didn’t let the PST vote, so the vote shouldn’t count! That’s not how voting works, America!” a third critic exploded.
“It’s really a shame that people can’t vote in the PST time zone. The entire Seattle market can’t watch live. Not sure about the rest of the west coast. Fix that!” a fourth person wrote.
“Voting closing so early on the West Coast is a JOKE! It’s not fair!” one commenter agreed.
WHAT IS THE NEXT?
The top 12 remaining contestants are Jack Blocker, McKenna Faith Breinholt, Abi Carter, Roman Collins, Jayna Elise, Julia Gagnon, Triston Harper, Kaibrienne, Kayko, Mia Matthews, Will Moseley and Emmy Russell.
On Monday night, the Top 12 will perform their interpretations of the Billboard hit episode.
Singer Meghan Coach30, serves as a guest mentor on tonight’s episode.
