VANDERPUMP Rules alum Brittany Cartwright revealed the real reason she split from husband Jax Taylor.
Last month, the former couple announced their separation shortly before the premiere of their new reality show, The Valley.
The Valley marks the return of Brittany, 35, and Jax to Bravo after being fired from the network four years ago.
With their return, the former couple also appeared on the show that made them famous, Vanderpump Rules.
On Tuesday’s episode, Brittany confided in VPR star Scheana Shay, 39, about how she and Jax, 44, started fighting over their finances.
She told her friend, “I know whenever me and Jax were going through a situation where I was making more money for the first time, I realized that was a change for him.

“We were fighting a lot just because of that.”
In 2022, Brittany signed a $2 million endorsement deal with weight loss and nutrition company Jenny Craig.
Brittany questioned whether or not Scheana “being the breadwinner” caused any drama in her marriage to Brock Davies.
Scheana admitted that she did.
Brittany argued that “because [Jax and Brock] They’re such virile men, it could be something even if they don’t express it.”
She also revealed that her and Jax’s marital roles were somewhat reversed after the two were kicked out of VPR.
“I was definitely making more money. I can tell this hurt Jax’s ego,” Brittany confessed.
SEPARATE WAYS
Earlier this month, Brittany opened up about her and Jax’s decision to split after nearly five years of marriage.
The former couple married in June 2019 and welcomed son Cruz in April 2021.
“Jax is Jax, whether he’s on TV or not — that’s something everyone needs to understand,” Brittany said. Daily Mail.
Jax was one of the original stars of Vanderpump Rules, with Brittany joining as a full-time cast member in season 6.
The pair were fired from the network in 2020 after allegations of racism came to light.
Despite the two returning to reality television this year, Brittany revealed that being on the show was not a deciding factor in them choosing to go their separate ways.
“For me, it was like taking care of myself. Having a child really woke me up and lifted a little of what I deserve and what I will endure for the rest of my life,” she said.
“It wasn’t because we were on a TV show. It was just because of the way we interacted with each other, time after time.
And I just knew that I had to… figure out what I want to do for my future and make things a super positive living situation for my son. That’s all I care about.”
The former SUR server mentioned that the financial strain of being fired from Bravo in 2020 took a toll on his marriage.
“It was definitely a difficult time in our relationship,” the reality TV star admitted.
“It kind of changed direction and I became the breadwinner because I was still working, doing commercials and different brand deals.
“I was very lucky that all of this happened to me, but Jax wasn’t having the same thing happen to him. So it was a big change in our relationship that took its toll for a while,” she concluded.
I was definitely making more money. I can tell this hurt Jax’s ego.”

The former couple stars in the new Bravo series The Valley alongside VPR star Kristen Doute, who was fired from the Housewives spin-off in 2020.
They also have a sports bar in Los Angeles, Jax’s Studio City, opening in October 2023.
DIVIDED REVELATION
Brittany first confirmed the news of the couple’s split on her and Jax’s joint podcast in late February.
“A lot of you have been asking me about Jax and I and our relationship,” she responded.
“Yes, marriages in general are very difficult and I had a particularly difficult year last year.
“Jax and I are separating and I have made the decision to move to another house to have some space for the sake of my mental health.”
Shortly after the news broke, Jax provided an update on the couple’s relationship, insisting the split was not a divorce.
“We’re just spending some time apart and trying to reevaluate, you know, our situation. We have a child involved and we just want to do what’s best for our child,” he elaborated.
However, during an interview at Not thin, but not fat podcast, Brittany explained that many things led to the estranged couple’s split and confessed that she didn’t see them getting back together anytime soon.
She even hinted at wanting to date someone new after Jax declared that they would work things out.
“I’m willing to date someone,” Brittany revealed.
“I think the breakup is all about figuring out what you want in your future. I can if I want.”
