FOOD Network has debuted a new cooking competition show and fans already have complaints about the contestants.
The show is 24 In 24: Last Chef Standing and premiered on Sunday, April 14th.
It is hosted by Michael Symon, who has appeared on several cooking shows including Iron Chef, and Esther Choi, a chef with several restaurants in New York City.
Food Network described the show as “the world’s toughest cooking competition that’s part cooking marathon and part social experiment.”
The competition hosts 24 chefs tasked with facing 24 challenges over 24 consecutive hours.
It is divided into eight shifts that test different culinary skills, such as artistry, speed and resourcefulness.
The chef with the lowest score in each challenge is eliminated until only one is left.
O 24 in 24 the winner goes home with $50,000.
BAD HABITS
During the premiere, contestant Mika Leon caught the attention of fans of the competitive show, but not for a positive reason.
The young woman was wearing a black button-down shirt and a denim apron with a white strap.
Although her outfit was professional, fans didn’t like the rest of her appearance.
Her long brown hair was tied back in a ponytail, but her curtain bangs hung in front of her face.
Even though she tucked her bangs behind her ear, it still fell in front of her face while cooking.
There were also many clips of the chef where she was preparing food but not wearing gloves.
Additionally, fans noticed that she had long nails, wore nail polish, and continued to wear rings while preparing the dishes.
Food Network fans in a Reddit thread couldn’t ignore all of Mika’s mistakes.
The thread creator wrote: “24 out of 24 – is anyone else grossed out by those long nails?
“Basic food hygiene standards. I wouldn’t eat food prepared by someone who didn’t practice it.”
One user responded: “Yes, and rings and long hair that isn’t tied back.”
“I have worked in many kitchens. Long nails or nail polish were never allowed,” added another.
A third commented: “Should definitely wear gloves because you can’t easily and properly wash your hands and get all the dirt out from under them.”
“All rings must be removed before cooking, all the gunk that gets trapped under the rings is disgusting!!” wrote one critic.
New episodes of 24 In 24: Last Chef Standing are released every Sunday.
