Daily Show writers weighed in on who their dream host would be to replace Trevor Noah after his departure.
The Comedy Central program had different weekly hosts since then Trevor Noah left the show in December 2022.

Recent and upcoming hosts include Jordan Klepper, Ronny Chieng, Dulcé Sloan, Michael Kosta, Desi Lydic and Lewis Black.
It was announced in February that Jon Stewart would return to the anchor desk every Monday night, and so the former host — he left in 2015 — now hosts The Daily Show once a week.
He will continue to host through the 2024 election cycle and serve as executive producer.
“I offered him a massage every day, so he said yes,” Zhubin Parang joked to The US Sun about how they won him back.

Meanwhile, another Daily Show writer, Dan Amira, added, “And I’m blackmailing him and I can’t say what it’s for, but that was a key piece as well.”
In all seriousness, writer Jennifer Flanz clarified what it will be like to have Jon back as host – a role he held for 16 years.
“It’s going really well. The three of us worked with him when he was here for the first shift, so it’s getting the better of him because he’s only going to be there one night,” she explained.
“I mean, we work on his stuff during the week, but really without the burden of… I think for all the hosts that are in the mix right now, not having the burden of carrying the show alone every night is so great for a show like The Daily Show because there’s a lot of pressure and people are constantly looking at you to know what you have to say.
“And they agree, they disagree, they like you, they hate you, and that’s a lot. So I kind of love that they’re all sharing that burden.”
WHO IS NEXT?
The trio walked the red carpet together when The Daily Show was nominated for comedy/talk series at the 2024 Writers Guild Awards ceremony in New York City on April 14, 2024.
When asked who their dream host is, the three writers had different opinions.
Zhubin revealed, “I wanted Peyton Manning, but I’m a real Peyton Manning fan.
“Honestly, I’m indifferent to Jon Stewart because I didn’t get Peyton Manning, so I don’t care.”
Meanwhile, Dan disagreed about the sports icon and said: “I can barely throw a football so it’s not a good fit for the show.”

Then, Jennifer revealed that she was after singer Jennifer Lopez.
“I wanted JLo too, but other than that,” she told The US Sun.
“Honestly, we all released this version over a year ago,” Jennifer commented, referring to weekly host Jon Stewart.
“We’re living the dream. We wanted our team to take control and obviously having Jon back – this is like the icing on the cake.”
JLo and Peyton appeared on The Daily Show as celebrity guests, but neither was a guest host.
MAIN CHANGES
While attending the Writers Guild Awards at The Edison Ballroom, the writers ran into Roy Wood Jr., who was the emcee that night.
Despite the former correspondent’s departure from the program in October 2023, there was no embarrassment in the room.
Roy recently wrapped filming on Jonah Hill’s Outcome and is working on a memoir, The Man of Many Fathers.
When asked if there would be any other changes to the show, Zhubin first joked that one of them “will be fired soon,” but then shared what viewers of the news show can expect.
“Well, historically, for conventions, we went to cities. We hope to do something like this again soon.
“But I think with this year coming up, there’s going to be a lot to talk about and do just with the [political] campaign and events.
“And dealing with the whole snowball of excitement and terror that’s going to lead up to this. It’s going to be a lot,” he joked.
The Daily Show airs weekdays at 11pm ET/PT on Comedy Central and is available the next morning on Paramount+ and the Comedy Central website and app.
