The girls returning for the Lifetime special include JoJo Siwa, Chloe Lukasiak, Brooke Hyland, Paige Hyland, Kendall Vertes and Kalani Hilliker.

Some of their mothers were also present: Jessalynn Siwa, Kelly Hyland, Jill Vertes, Kira Hilliker and Christi Lukasiak.

However, three girls who appeared on the reality show did not attend the special: Nia Sioux, Maddie Ziegler and Mackenzie Ziegler.

During the two-hour episode, the girls discussed their time on Dance Moms and their relationship with dance teacher Abby Lee Miller — who used to be very strict with the girls and would even yell at them.

When it came time for 20-year-old Jojo to watch videos of herself and the drama that occurred between her and Abby, the Karma singer shared a statement that received major backlash online.

Jojo said: “It’s going to be a little controversial to say this, but for me, Abby has always been right.”

The other girls around him remained silent after his comment.

The young star was referring to clips fans have seen previously where Abby yelled at Jojo for interrupting their conversation and other harsh clips of Jojo crying and more videos of Abby yelling at her.

In one video, Abby called Jojo a “greedy little monster.”

She continued: “If I was a mess and a beat up, she wasn’t just yelling at me because she wanted to yell at me. In fact, I was a mess and a beat up.

“One thing I learned, like actually working in Hollywood, is that this is normal and it’s scary that it’s normal, but it taught me how to survive in the industry. It’s really very difficult.”

The original season of Dance Moms ran from July 13, 2011, to September 10, 2019, and was filmed at Abby’s dance studio in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Following the reunion, the reboot, Dance Moms: Epic Showdown, will debut.

‘IT’S NOT RIGHT’

On X, formerly Twitter, fans flooded the Dance Moms Reunion hashtag with their honest thoughts.

One viewer pointed out: “Whether Jojo is right or wrong, it’s so inappropriate to say that in a room full of girls who have been through so much trauma and are finally gaining the courage to talk about it.

“Neither girl owes Abby forgiveness for the trauma she inflicted,” said a second.

“The awkward silence when Jo Jo said Abby is always right,” said a third. “Verbal abuse is not that Abby is right.”

“The silence in the room. She’s so stupid,” criticized a fourth critic.

A fifth wrote: “So delusional.”

Another person said, “The silence from all the other girls when JoJo said Abby was always right speaks volumes.”

“Jojo saying Abby was always right was so weird,” another viewer noted.

ABBY SPEAKS

After Jojo’s comment was revealed, Abby responded on social media.

Before the show aired, Entertainment Tonight shared a sneak peek that included Jojo saying Abby was always right.

On TikTok, the dance professional shared again the teaser and happily exclaimed, “Jojo, you finally learned something!”

To caption her video, she said, “She said it, not me,” with an emoji of a person shrugging their shoulders.

Fans flooded the comments section.

“This is wild,” said one.

Another commented: “You are so iconic.”
