AMERICAN Idol has abruptly changed its schedule with just weeks remaining until the show’s 22nd season finale.
The finale will also include a farewell to judge Katy Perry, 39, after seven seasons on the jury.

It’s scheduled to air on Sunday, May 19, but according to American Idol websitethere will be fewer episodes than expected by then.
Episodes will only air on Sundays starting this weekend, eliminating Monday nights from the show’s schedule.
The season’s final Monday episode aired on April 29.
Historically, Idol has aired episodes several nights a week, often extending its finale to at least two nights.

However, instead, the final will be a one-night, three-hour event, with the remaining three contestants performing two Disney songs each.
WHAT TO EXPECT
As recently announced, Jon Bon Jovi will mentor the Top 3 and, in typical Idol fashion, the winner will be crowned at the end of the episode.
Current Top 7 contestants include Abi Carter, Emmy Russell, Jack Blocker, Julia Gagnon, McKenna Faith Breinholt, Triston Harper and Will Moseley.
Host Ryan Seacrest, 49, announced last week that the contestants will sing “Songs That Make Me Wanna Dance” and Adele hits during Sunday night’s episode.
It was also revealed that Ciara would serve as a mentor and Meghan Trainor would take the stage to perform.
The season finale is expected to be an emotional one as Katy will say goodbye to Ryan and her fellow judges, Lionel Richie, 74, and Luke Bryan, 47.
During a February appearance on Jimmy Kimmel liveKaty revealed that she planned to leave Idol after this season.
Last week, Ryan spoke about the Fireworks singer’s imminent departure and admitted he doesn’t know who will replace her.
“There are some people at the top of that short list who could be great,” Ryan said. Fox News about Katy’s possible replacement.
“We should make that decision soon, I hope.”

As for Katy, the future Wheel of Fortune host said we’ll miss her.
“(Katy) brought incredible generosity and love and a big heart, that kind of spirit to the show.
“For whoever comes, we hope it has the same kind of impact,” concluded Ryan.
Katy received mixed reviews from fans about her performance on the show and has previously teased her departure to focus on her music.
The pop star also said she wanted to spend more time with her 3-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove, and her fiancé, Orlando Bloom, 47.
Rumors have also circulated that Katy and Orlando are expecting their second child, although neither has addressed the conversation.
