ASHER HaVon won The Voice – although outraged fans think Nathan Chester was “robbed” by coming fourth.
The 31-year-old vocal powerhouse, who is part of Reba McEntire’s team, was crowned season 25 winner during Tuesday night’s finale.
Asher and Nathan joined Karen Waldrup, Josh Sanders and Bryan Olesen as the top five singers competing to win The Voice.
Josh, who was also on Reba’s team, came second, with Bryan third and Karen fifth.
Asher, who is from Selma, Alabama, was stunned by a moving rendition of Whitney Houston’s I Will Always Love You on Monday night.
He followed it up on Tuesday with a duet with Reba from Patti LaBelle and Michael McDonald’s On My Own.
Nathan, who said at the start of the show that he wanted to “bring back the James Brown style of Motown”, sang It’s Your Thing and Leon Russell’s The Isley Brothers’ A Song For You on Monday.
The 28-year-old cruise ship entertainer sang Percy Sledge’s When a Man Loves a Woman with his coach John Legend in the second half of Tuesday’s final.
Fans at home were devastated that the Chicago native didn’t win the competition or come in second.
“Nathan was robbed. No way, 4th place. Should have been #1 or #2,” one wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Nathan in 4th place doesn’t please me,” wrote another.
“Nathan was in the top 2, let’s be honest!!! America, you will never be able to vote correctly,” a third fumed.
“He should have been second! No way fourth! Asher and him had the best voices,” another person commented.
Another viewer said they hoped Nathan would win, in a post shared before the vote results were announced.
“I REALLY hope you guys let Nathan win, he has been the most consistent all season and tonight will be no different,” they posted.
Earlier this week, viewers criticized The Voice for giving credit to the wrong artist during Nathan’s performance.
He sang A Song for You, which pianist Leon Russell recorded in 1970.
However, The Voice gave credit to Donny Hathaway – who released a version of the song shortly after – in praising Nathan’s performance in X.
Fans said it “made them mad” that the producers hadn’t verified who the original artist behind the song was and encouraged them to “Google it!”
