Kelly explained to AND! News: “The first red flag was my significant weight loss.

“I lost enough that other people noticed and asked for tips on my diet, but there was nothing I changed in my daily life that caused the loss.

“I booked myself a mammogram. I had just had one eight months earlier and the results were clean.

“However, this new mammogram and ultrasound didn’t work, it came back showing a mass.

“I went from clean results to a malignant mass in eight months.”

She added: “I was shocked that I had grown up so quickly and scared of the battle I knew I was about to face.

“I made a call with all my kids because I wanted to tell them at the same time and make sure they all got the same information.

“It was a very difficult conversation for all of us. I wish I had told them in person.

“But a phone call was the best I could do under the circumstances.

“All my former co-stars are aware of what’s going on.”

“I’m very lucky to have great friends and a flexible job that allows me to maintain some normality through all of this.”

How did Kelly’s family respond to her diagnosis?

When discussing her cancer diagnosis, Kelly’s youngest daughter, Paige Hyland, told the aforementioned outlet, “I had an instant feeling that something was wrong.

“As soon as she told us the bad news, I felt like I was in shock and was quickly hit with a whirlwind of emotions.

“Not only was I scared, but I was also angry, sad, and confused about why this would happen to someone as amazing as my mom.”

Kelly’s eldest daughter, Brooke, also commented: “We watched my Nana fight cancer for years, so I knew we were at the beginning of a very long and challenging road.

“I hated having to see another important person in my life go through this.

“She is the strongest woman I know and I am confident that she will get through this and that I will be there every step of the way.

“She has so much love and support by her side.”
