Teen mom Amber Portwood’s daughter Leah cries over strained relationship as Gary Shirley reveals parental struggles

TEEN Mom star Amber Portwood’s daughter Leah cried over their broken bond following an explosive birthday dinner.

MTV cameras captured the 34-year-old reality star berating her ex and daughter during a family meal with Gary Shirley, his wife Kristina Shirley and their daughter, Emilee.

During Thursday’s new episode of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter, Leah struggled with her rocky relationship following the argument.

Knowing that Amber would be visiting her son James, Gary, 37, and Leah decided to get in touch.

In a confessional, the reality star father and his daughter opened up about their complex dynamic.

“I’m trying hard to, you know, co-parent and I’m trying hard to keep Amber up to date here and a relationship with her daughter,” Gary said, sitting next to his teenage daughter.

Leah then chimed in, admitting that she only invested in a relationship with Amber for her brother’s sake.

“With my relationship with my mom, I hope we can maybe still talk and stuff, but I feel like this is mostly for James’ sake,” she said.

“Because, like, he’s my brother, and I would definitely push for a relationship with him, and that’s basically my only way of seeing him right now is through her, so I’m just hoping for, like, a mature relationship together. .”

Amber’s daughter wiped tears from her eyes after making the comment.

The pair didn’t visit Amber and James, however.

Later in the episode, Amber talked to a friend about her visit, revealing that it “didn’t work out” with Gary and Leah.

She added that she “couldn’t understand” how her daughter was feeling.

“I felt bad that Leah was feeling some way, but I couldn’t understand how she was feeling because you guys are 25 minutes away and she didn’t try to hang herself or anything,” she said.

“My son, he was in my life more than she was and he was in California. So what does this tell you? Where is Leah? Obviously it’s not me.”

Amber added: “I was hurt and I’m tired of being hurt.”

BIRTHDAY

Last week, viewers watched Amber arrive late to her daughter’s birthday dinner.

She then got into a heated argument with Gary and hurled insults at Leah, leaving her in tears.

Leah begged her mother and father to “stop” arguing before leaving the meal.

Gary apologized to his daughter when he realized she was emotional, hiding her face from the camera.

Amber, who at first didn’t notice Leah’s tears, criticized Gary for apologizing and then put her hand on her daughter’s back to comfort her.

Leah excused herself from the table and Kristina followed her to the bathroom.

The teenager was heard crying outside the bathroom door, saying she no longer wanted to open her presents.

Gary packed up her things and the family left.

Amber stayed behind, reflecting on the on-camera argument.

She cried, fearing that the incident could have taken her further away from her daughter.

O clip circulated on a Teen Mom fan page, where many shared their thoughts.

“It’s so sad to watch. It was supposed to be a birthday dinner,” one person wrote.

“Amber saying “why are you apologizing?” IT’S HER BIRTHDAY DINNER AND YOU’RE MAKING HER CRY,” said another.

“Also, after Leah said ‘you two need to stop’, Amber said ‘honey, I’m fine’. IT’S NOT ABOUT YOU,” commented a third.

“Amber will always be the damn victim! She is so out of touch with reality,” a fourth added.

Amber and Gary have had a strained relationship for years.

Leah is an only child and Gary has primary custody of her.

Amber has been struggling to get close to Leah.

She was absent from the teenager’s life for a period while serving time in prison.

Amber spent 17 months behind bars after pleading guilty to domestic assault.

REAL LIFE FIGHTS

The MTV personality is going through a difficult situation.

In addition to facing backlash online for her behavior towards Gary and Leah, Amber’s fiancé, Gary Wayt, has disappeared.

Amber’s last love interest disappeared after her brother’s wedding in North Carolina.

Earlier this week, however, he was spotted in Oklahoma.

North Carolina police confirmed the sighting.

“We know he is not in this area. We know he is driving his vehicle. We have confirmed he is in a different state,” the police source added.

North Carolina is more than 10 hours from Oklahoma.

Amber and Gary were spending time in Bryson City, North Carolina for their brother Shawn’s wedding.

As they prepared to return to Indiana, where they are both from, they got into an argument.

Amber’s boyfriend left the cabin with his wallet and car keys.

He has not been seen or heard from since then, except for the last sighting.

A source close to the investigation suggested the 39-year-old may not even know he is a missing person.

“He may not even know he’s a missing person at this point, as he doesn’t have his phone with him and only took his wallet and car.”
