A new Big Brother twist will hit screens when season 26 premieres.

CBS announced that 16 of the 17 new houseguests will be moving in, including a celebrity chef, a former undercover cop and a crochet entrepreneur.

However, it was also revealed that the cast would have the power to vote for the 17th houseguest for the first time.

Additionally, “this new group of Houseguests will experience an unforgettable summer of jaw-dropping surprises as ‘BB AI’ takes control of the ‘Big Brother’ house,” ABC’s press release teases.

In other words, the cast will compete in an artificial intelligence-themed season under the gaze of a device called the Chenbot.

After the two-night premiere, Big Brother will air Sundays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on CBS.

The last of each weekly installment features the live eviction show.

Julie Chen Moonves will return as host and the grand prize will be US$750,000.

‘PREDICTABLE’

Big Brother gave its first look at the cast on Instagram on Monday, along with the official announcement.

Different cast members tossed various candies of their choice into a giant bowl.

Cam Sullivan-Brown said he was “bringing all the good vibes,” while his co-star Brooklyn said he was bringing “sass, class and a little bit of bada**.”

The promotional video received a mixed reception from fans, many of whom criticized the casting as “predictable” and disliked the addition of AI.

“Predictable cast. A thousand influencers and recruits and a boomer,” read one of the top comments.

“I have a feeling the last guest will be AI, and if so, I’m not loving the idea,” wrote another.

“These guests seem boring,” said a third.

“Hello, I want the old big brother,” begged a fourth.

WILL TWIST PAY?

The voting twist involves players deciding whether or not to let in a secret, predetermined 17th guest.

However, this is not the first time the program has disrupted work.

In the show’s 14th season, coaches Dan Gheesling, Britney Haynes, Mike “Boogie” Malin and Janelle Pierzina voted on the game, leading to one of its most famous moments.

During the Season 19 premiere, Kevin Schlehuber accepted $25,000, even though it triggered a mysterious twist in the game.

This twist allowed the previous season’s runner-up, Paul Abrahamian, to enter the house, although Kevin was unaware that this would be the twist.

However, this time, the players – or at least some of them – are aware of the twist and will decide whether to let another contestant enter.

This announcement comes as the show’s previous season raised the bar.

Big Brother 25 was a remarkable season, marking the longest at 100 days.

Jag Bains, the first Sikh guest, won the competition, while Matt Klotz, the first deaf player, was runner-up.
