VANDERPUMP Rules star Katie Maloney gave an update on her Something About Her diner, which she owns with co-star and friend, Ariana Madix.
The Bravo star recently spoke with Danny Pellegrino for his Everything Iconic podcast.
On Wednesday’s episode, Katie, 37, opened up about her store and how “everything is out of her control.”
The VPR star said: “[West Hollywood] licenses are their own governments. They follow their own schedule of things, so when you’re getting inspections, you have to wait for someone to come out.”
Katie went on to explain that it is a long process to get people to come to her store and make sure everything is up to date to be approved by the city.
“It’s just jumping through hoop after hoop after hoop. It’s not simple and that’s it,” she admitted.

However, Katie confirmed that her and 38-year-old Ariana’s business is still set to open.
Getting into more juicy details, Danny asked if there was any drama between Something About Her’s former chef, Chef Penny Davidi.
“Ah, yes,” Katie said in a low tone, revealing that something was going on behind the scenes. “Well, I mean. I don’t want to talk about it.”
Chef Penny is not involved with Something About Her, US Sun can confirm.
WHAT HAPPENED
As of now, Ariana and Katie have a different relationship with their former chef, unlike what was shown on the March 26 episode of Vanderpump Rules.
During the clip, Ariana, Katie, and Penny sat down together and interviewed more potential Something About Her employees.
However, Ariana and Katie seemed a little irritated as Penny asked all the questions.
“I feel like Katie and I should ask most of the questions considering it’s our diner,” Ariana said in a confessional.
Speaking to The US Sun, a source revealed that if Penny “had been more involved” in the process of opening the restaurant, Something About Her would have already opened.
“Penny hasn’t been as active recently because Ariana and Katie wanted to be on the cutting edge and be more hands-on. But Penny has always been a supporter and she will continue to be a supporter,” the source said.
They continued to state that Penny would always be there for them if they needed her help.
“[Penny] I certainly could have opened this a long time ago. She has put her heart and soul into this and is a constructive person who also has an immense level of experience and knowledge in the industry.
“Having a good relationship with the city and restaurant industry operators, Penny would already have something about her open if Ariana and Katie sought help,” the source concluded.
EVEN MORE DRAMA
Over the past few weeks, Bravo fans I asked myself if Penny’s trademark filings resulted in further delays.
In an exclusive interview with The US Sun, the brand’s attorney and Penny’s husband, Jonathan Lee Borsuk, confirmed that this is not the reason why the store is not yet open.
The Something About Her trademark is owned by Penny through her company Put a Fork in It LLC.
“There were conversations about various logistical steps to open the restaurant and protect the brand.
“Penny said, ‘Look, one of the things we should do as a partnership is establish trademark protection,'” he explained.
“Katie and Ariana said, ‘Yeah, it would be great if you did that.’
The trademark was registered in August 2023 and is currently still awaiting approval.
