Young and the Restless star Meg Bennett dedicated the final years of her life to raising money for charity before her tragic death.

The actress died on April 11 after a difficult battle with cancer.

Meg, who was 75, spent the last few years before her death raising money for the Alzheimer’s Association.

The Young and the Restless star frequently shared posts about the organization on her personal Facebook page, where she asked fans for donations.

His final post, written on September 28, 2023, read: “For my birthday this year, I’m asking for donations to the Alzheimer’s Association.

“I chose this nonprofit because their mission means a lot to me and I hope you’ll consider contributing as a way to celebrate with me.”

Meg continued, “Every little bit will help me reach my goal. I’ve included information about the Alzheimer’s Association below.

“The Alzheimer’s Association leads the way to end Alzheimer’s disease and all other dementias – accelerating global research, driving risk reduction and early detection, and maximizing quality care and support,” she concluded.

In April 2023, the former model donated again to the Alzheimer’s Association, and in February 2022, she contributed funds to the Entertainment Community Fund.

In recent years, Meg has also donated to the American Cancer Society, Greater Good Charities, and several other organizations, encouraging her fans to do the same.

According to her obituary, published April 21, the Daytime Emmy winner died 10 days earlier from cancer.

“Meg lost her battle with cancer. Until almost the end, she worked devotedly with children, wrote and interacted with her family and distant friends,” it said.

Meg was born Helen Margaret Bennet on October 4, 1948, in Los Angeles, California.

She grew up in Pasadena, where she graduated from John Muir High School.

The actress attended Northwestern University, where she majored in theater and received the title of homecoming queen.

After graduation, Meg moved to New York in the 1970s to pursue a career in entertainment.

Her obituary reflected on her success, noting: “She got a modeling job as the ‘Cadillac Eldorado Convertible Girl,’ but her first real break was acting and singing in the off-Broadway musical Godspell.

“From there she went to Grease on Broadway, became champion of the TV quiz show Three on a Match and, in 1974, began her long and successful soap career as the ingenue Liza in Search for Tomorrow .”

In the 80s, Meg returned to Los Angeles, where she landed her role as Julia Newman on The Young and the Restless.

Shortly after joining the cast, the TV star began writing the script for the long-running and highly successful soap opera.

The actress married her husband Robert Guza Jr. in 2004 while they were writing together on another popular soap opera, General Hospital.

“They would have celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary this year,” their family shared in the obituary.

Meg is survived by Robert, as well as her brother, sister, two stepdaughters, four grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
