OVERALL The Hospital showrunners dug up an old character from the long-running soap opera to bring him back to the show.

General Hospital has been offering daytime dramas on television since the 1960s.

One familiar face who will soon be back on the show, reprising her role as Gloria Cerullo, is 84-year-old actress Ellen Travolta.

She is the sister of Hollywood movie star John Travolta, 70.

Ellen’s reappearance as Gloria is fitting, as her granddaughter Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) is getting married to her fiancé Chase (Josh Swickard).

Gloria (Ellen) must return to Port Charles to attend her granddaughter’s wedding.

Ellen’s next stint on the General Hospital series will be brief.

She debuted as Gloria in the series in the 1990s, returning in 2023 as the same character in some episodes.

Amanda is probably happy to work with Ellen again, given their special bond.

“We fell in love immediately,” she told Michael Fairman TV after filming together last year.

Amanda continued: “What’s crazy is that my maternal grandmother was Grandma Glória. I had her until I was 30 and we were so close…

And then, when you meet Ellen, she looks like my grandmother – same haircut, same high cheekbones. It really felt like I had spent a few days with my grandmother. It was very, very special for me.”

CHANGING THE CAST

The General Hospital cast is constantly changing.

In December 2023, actress Courtney Fulk appeared on General Hospital following the show’s cast change.

Soap Opera News revealed that month that Courtney will temporarily replace actress Eden McCoy as Josslyn Jax.

Courtney debuted as Josslyn in an episode of General Hospital in December.

FILLING IN

No information about why Courtney is replacing Eden was provided.

However, there is a chance that this has something to do with the loss of Eden’s mother.

Eden revealed on social media in November 2023 to share with fans that she had lost her mother to cancer.

Even though Eden hasn’t been on the show for a while, she still made sure not to miss the 2023 Daytime Emmy Awards.

This year, Eden won a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Younger Performer for her role as Josslyn.

In July, ABC executives wasted no time in replacing the most recent actress who played General Hospital character Molly Lansing-Davis, Mia Kriegel, even though they had just hired her.
