Fans thought he was leaving the show when his name was removed from the show’s credits.

In the last episode of Nicholas’ soap opera, his character Spencer is presumed to have died after falling from a boat into the River Seine.

The episode aired in January, a month after he began filming Monster with Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan.

Nicholas will star in season two as one of the Mendez brothers – two brothers who were convicted of murdering their parents.

The first season starred Evan Peters as the feared serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer.

MORE THAN LOVED

Fans of the television show on X, formerly known as Twitter, mourned online after it was revealed that Nicholas would not be returning.

One said: “What a loss for GH. He has an incredible screen presence.

“I’m not shocked. They can recast – it’s what soap operas do!” added another.

A third wrote: “We all knew this was going to happen. HE HAS RAISED A LEVEL”.

“This is no surprise, he is a very talented actor and probably received a lot of offers after making his last film on Netflix.

“I’m so disappointed that there will be a revamp. I loved Nickolas Chavez as Spencer Cassdine,” commented one fan.

A fifth said: “As much as I liked him on GH, I’m glad the kid is having success elsewhere.

“He is a very talented young actor and I have no doubt that after his season of MONSTER comes out, EVERYONE will be knocking on his door.”

Regarding the role of Spencer, Nicholas admitted: “It changed everything about me”, in an interview with People.

Before starting on General Hospital, he sold cars in Florida while driving his father’s old Jeep.

After the role, he moved across the country and bought his own vehicle.

He said it has been a “privilege to earn an income doing what I love to do every day” before calling himself the luckiest guy in the world.
