DAYS of Our Lives revealed the departure of two cast members on Tuesday, leaving fans devastated.
After the news broke, viewers begged producers to keep one of their favorite actors.

On the June 24 episode, viewers said goodbye to fan favorite Harris Michaels, played by Steve Burton.
During her final scene on Days of Our Lives, Harris said goodbye to her ex Ava, played by Tamara Braun.
Tamara spoke with Soap opera summary to reflect on Steve’s departure.
“Of course I was sad to see Steve go,” she said.
“I enjoyed working with him again and building that relationship between Ava and Harris.
“It felt like the powers that be were vested in the characters, so it was a shame that he left because the couple couldn’t continue.”
Similar to Tamara’s reaction, fans took to social media to share their thoughts on Steve’s departure from the show.
“I’m going to miss Steve Burton. I only know him from Days, but I loved his character,” said a Facebook user.
“Harris needs to stay!” wrote another.
Steve’s exit comes after the soap star signed a one-year deal to return on Days of Our Lives.
In March 2024, Steve reprized his role as Jason Morgan on General Hospital.
When speaking with Soap Opera Digest, Tamara said his role on General Hospital is where he should be right now.
“Steve needed to go,” she said. “He’s back at GH where he wants to be and that’s important to him.
“I want people to be happy. Life is short.”

Despite Steve’s departure, fans believe there is hope that he will return since he was not killed off on the show.
“Well I’m glad Harris is leaving town and they didn’t kill him which means there might be a chance he comes back one day so who knows,” said one fan.
“It’s sad because he’s the best part of Days and the good thing is they left the door open for him to come back whenever he wants so there’s a chance he might consider coming back,” another shared.
GOODBYE LUCAS
In addition to Steve’s departure, Days of Our Live fans will once again say goodbye to Bryan Dattilo’s character, Lucas Horton.
During his final episode on June 25, Lucas will say an emotional goodbye to his mother, Kate, as he boards a flight to New Zealand.
While fans are devastated to see Bryan’s character leave, it’s not the first time he’s exited the series.
He first appeared on the show in 1993 and continued until 2001. Bryan reprized his role the following year until 2010.
He returned to the series during its 2012 reboot and has since been on and off the series.
