EVERY Hollywood star dreams of being nominated for and ultimately winning a coveted acting award.
Courtney Hope found out the hard way that these days, even award-winning celebrities can be hard to recognize, and taking home a trophy doesn’t automatically guarantee an actor’s future success or fame.
Courtney Hope is an actress who works primarily in television shows, made-for-TV movies, and video games.
Hope got her big break on Walker, Texas Ranger in 2000, and has since appeared in episodes of Joan of Arcadia, Grey’s Anatomy, CSI: Miami, Criminal Minds, NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, Bones, and Transparent.
She was also once “married” or in a long-term relationship with General Hospital star Chad Duell, hosting a gothic-themed celebration on her wedding day.
She is best known and recognized for playing the fictional character Sally Spectra on two iconic soap opera series, The Bold and the Beautiful (B&B) and The Young and the Restless (Y&R).
In 2021, Hope’s portrayal of Spectra on B&B earned her a Daytime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.
In 2024, her portrayal of Spectra on Y&R earned her a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.
The 2024 Daytime Emmys kicked off on June 7, and soon after winning her coveted award, Hope was ready to take part in the night’s festivities.
“I love celebrating with everyone and seeing who’s there and what they’re wearing,” Hope said. Soap opera summary.
“I just enjoy the whole experience and it was nice to be able to have that.”
“I brought [my Emmy] with me to the party and we ate. So someone mentioned this last year, someone is Emmy [statuette] It was taken.”
“So I thought, ‘Okay, I’m bringing this back to my [hotel] room,’” she added.
Hope then remembers going back to her hotel suite and leaving her figurine.
When she returned to the party, she realized that she had made two major accidents.
She washed her hands in the hotel room, erasing the mark of the party.
“When I put my hand under a black light [scanner]they said, ‘Oh, you can’t get in, you don’t have a stamp,’” she recalled, noting the tight security at the event.
She also exchanged her purse for another, leaving the party ticket behind.
“I’m like, ‘I was here!’ But the [security] The guy who saw me leave the party wasn’t there anymore.”
“So I asked [the new security guard], ‘What should I do? Go back to my room?'”
It turns out that Hope had no need to return to the hotel.
“Suddenly, someone left the party and said, ‘Congratulations!’”
“I said, ‘Thank you very much,’ and I didn’t mean to be pompous, but I looked at security and said, ‘I literally won an Emmy tonight and I was there,’ but he said, ‘Sorry.'”
“And then someone else comes up and congratulates me, and then the two security guards are thinking about it and I’m like, ‘I’m going to have to go back to my room.’”
Just when she was starting to lose hope, that coveted prize she won earlier in the night came in handy.
Several partygoers quickly continued to congratulate the star on her win, finally convincing security that she was a true best actress.
“And then two people came out and said, ‘Congratulations. Your speech was amazing.'”
“And I turned to the security guards and said, ‘Come on, guys, really?’ And they both finally said, ‘Okay, fine.’
Despite her initial nervousness and disappointment, Hope says she can now look back on the incident and laugh.
“Now I can say that what happened to me was very funny,” she said.
