GENERAL Hospital has seen a huge decline in ratings in recent weeks as fans question the show’s future due to its lackluster episodes.
US Sun can exclusively reveal that the long-running soap has lost viewers in recent episodes, and many have admitted they are completely turned off.

General Hospital drew 1,865,000 viewers during the week of July 15-19 — a drop from the previous week when it had 1,932,000, according to Soap Opera Network.
The lower numbers are even more worrying compared to the week of June 24th and 28th, when 1,957,000 viewers were recorded.
However, ratings appeared to decline weeks earlier, as June 10-14 brought in just 1,897,000 – a drop from May 20-24’s ratings of 1,903,000.
Shortly before this, the Soap Opera Network noted worries about the fate of the showas, at the time, it experienced “the biggest year-over-year decline” and consistently averaged less than 2,000,000 viewers.

‘MAKE IT STOP!’
Fans have expressed their thoughts about the 2023-2024 season on social media and may have shed some light on why people aren’t tuning in.
“They can break out of the John Cates character now. Such a boring story it’s dragging on,” one person wrote in the comments of the ABC show’s Instagram post showing a preview of a recent episode.
“Ratings have been down for 19 weeks in a row…none of this mob stuff is interesting. This has happened a million times before.
“General Hospital, we know where you’re going with the story before you even kill her. Cates and it’s a story of who did it! And it’s not interesting enough, Sonny and the meds are old,” complained a third, referring to Antonio Sabato Jr. . and characters by Maurice Benard.
“Someone please make this stop! So bad. Have you all looked at the ratings and reviews and what people are saying? Does anyone read this stuff? This is horrible.
“The writers must be Gen Z, who have no idea about the history of these characters or how they would behave. Fire them!” a fourth demanded.
“I’m so tired of Carly complaining and complaining about herself. I had to move forward when she was on air,” said a fifth fan about Laura Wright’s character.
“I’m not going to watch. I hope they understand,” said a sixth about the show’s producers.
“Tired of the fire storyline. I turned it off,” a seventh confessed, while an eighth added, while others claimed the writers “screwed it up” with their “blah” storylines.
General Hospital has been criticized for apparently dragging out storylines for some time.

The writers tried to drum up more interest earlier this week by creating a custody war between sisters Molly Lansing (Haley Pullos) and Kristina Davis (Kate Mansi).
But some fans think more should be done to save the show, including bringing back some familiar faces.
After a trailer for Friday’s episode was released last week, some fans were pining for the return of Lulu Spencer, played by Emme Rylan, after her departure in 2020.
Before that, it was revealed that Lulu’s brother Lucky Spencer would return this summer after leaving the show in 2015.
General Hospital has made several other cast changes, as Charlotte Cassadine (Scarlett Fernandez) and John Brennan (Charles Mesure) are set to return to the series.
Jake Webber, played by Hudson West, also recently returned.
The move follows the death of General Hospital star Michael Easton, who played Dr. Hamilton Finn since 2016.
