The Umbrella Academy star Robert Sheehan has opened up about his ‘grueling’ farewell to the hit Netflix series.
The star’s last day on set included spending several hours being buried alive.
Irish actor Robert, 36, who plays Klaus Hargreeves, discussed the experience with US media The Hollywood Reporter.
He said: “The last day on set was a tiring day where I was buried alive again and again.
“It was the most Promethean day I had on the Umbrella Academy set, because I was in and out of a comfortable coffin for about 14 hours.”
The reveal comes as The Umbrella Academy ends its run on Netflix, with the final eight episodes being released today (August 8).
It’s not the first time Robert has been buried alive for one of his roles.
As Nathan Young in E4 sci-fi comedy drama Misfits, the character discovered he was immortal after waking up in a coffin.
In The Umbrella AcademyKlaus is one of seven adopted superhero brothers raised by billionaire industrialist Sir Reginald Hargreeves (Colm Feore).
Specifically, the character’s ability allows him to communicate with the dead and temporarily make them corporeal.
Other cast members include Elliot Page, Tom Hopper and Emmy Raver-Lampman.
The synopsis for the final batch of episodes reads: “Stripped of their powers, each is left to their own devices and finds a new normal, with wildly varying degrees of success.
“However, the pitfalls of their strange new world prove too difficult to ignore for long.
“Their father, Reginald, alive and well, has stepped out of the shadows and into the public eye, overseeing a powerful and nefarious business Empire.
“A mysterious association known as The Keepers holds clandestine meetings believing that the reality they live in is a lie and that a great reckoning is coming.
“As these strange new forces conspire around them, the Umbrella Academy They must come together one last time and risk disturbing the shaky peace they have all endured so much to secure, to finally make things right.”
In other work, Robert also portrayed Darren Treacy in crime Love/Hate drama.
Set in Dublin’s criminal underworld, the acclaimed program aired over five series.
Notable Irish talent such as Aiden Gillen, Ruth Negga and Barry Keoghan also starred throughout the season.
The last season of The Umbrella Academy is transmitting Netflix.
