Amazon announced the news on May 9 during a Q&A with the cast following a screening of the first film in Culver City, California, according to Variety.

“It’s official, a Red, White & Royal Blue sequel is in the works! #RWRBMovie,” the streaming platform captioned the publish.

The image featured a smashed cake with a flag of the United Kingdom and the United States of America.

There was also a number two candle lit between the flags.

The image had the words “Want another slice?” on the top.

The cake is a reference to the first film, when Alex Claremont-Diaz (Taylor) and Prince Henry (Nicholas) knocked over a cake during the wedding of Prince Phillip, Duke of Cambridge.

Taylor and Nicholas are set to reprise their roles.

Nicholas is no stranger to Amazon Prime Video, as his new film, The Idea of ​​You, starring Anne Hathaway, is currently taking over the platform.

Red, White, and Royal Blue was turned into a 2023 romantic comedy after Casey McQuiston’s 2019 became a bestseller.

The film portrays a love affair between the son of the President of the United States and a British prince after they spend years hating each other.

Along with Taylor and Nicholas, Matthew Lopez, who co-wrote and directed the first film, will return for the sequel as well as produce it.

He will work with Casey on the script, who has yet to write a second book and serves as executive producer.

Variety said no plot details have been announced yet for the sequel.

Amazon has not announced whether the sequel will be released in theaters or released on the streaming service.

Only Taylor and Nicholas were announced to return from the cast.
