Amazon announced the show’s renewal on Tuesday with a statement from Amazon MGM Studios head Jennifer Salke.

“We are pleased to announce that a second season of our groundbreaking spy series, ‘Mr. and Mrs. Smith’ is in development for our global Prime Video customers,” said Salke.

“The success of the first season, with its incredibly modern and sexy reinvention of the original film, is a testament to the brilliant creators Donald Glover and Francesa Sloane.

“We are proud to bring you another season filled with unforgettable travel and new adventures.”

The popular Amazon show, loosely based on the iconic 2005 film starring Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, follows two spies who are assigned to work together undercover in an arranged marriage as Mr.

However, fans were furious to find no mention of the first season’s lead actors in the statement – and some even advised producers to cancel the series.

“Cancel then”, a he responded to news of the stars’ possible departure on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“I really liked S1, but why am I watching S2 if these two aren’t there?” other he said.

“If Donald and Maya aren’t the stars, I’m not watching,” said one he said.

“They’re not bringing Donald back. It won’t be worth watching,” another complained.

While some fans are furious at the possibility of the actors leaving the series, others theorize that their absence means the series is taking an anthology approach to the story.

“So is this like an anthology series from now on? Just a different Mr. and Mrs. Smith every season?” A fan guessed.

“Yes, I can rock a revolving cast like that,” another added.

US Sun has reached out to Amazon for comment.

The news comes as Glover, who releases music under the name Childish Gambino, recently announced that he will go on a world tour starting in August and running through February 2025.

NEXT SUMMER I WILL BE PRETTY

Amazon made another announcement about its original series on Tuesday that also left fans furious.

Amazon Prime Video has announced that the third season of its hit series The Summer I Turned Pretty has been delayed until summer 2025.

As the first two seasons were released in consecutive summers, the third season was expected to follow the same pattern and drop in 2024 – leaving fans furious with the news of the delay.

Who played Mr and Mrs Smith in the past?

Before Donald Glover and Maya Erskine starred as the spy couple on the TV show, Mr. and Mrs. Smith was originally a hit movie with the same concept.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie starred in the 2005 film – which became a huge hit in part because it was the start of their relationship, which is famously called Brangelina.

Brad was married to Jennifer Aniston when the film began production in 2004, while Angelina had just divorced Billy Bob Thornton.

Rumors swirled about the chemistry between the film’s stars until Jennifer filed for divorce from Brad, less than three months before the film hit theaters.

After getting together in 2004, Brangelina had six children and married in 2014 before divorcing in 2016.

“Kind of rude to make me wait so long,” tweeted one upset fan about the show being delayed.

“Girl, I was waiting for season 3 to come out in the next few months,” said another viewer.

While fans are outraged about having to wait a little longer for The Summer I Turned Pretty to return, Prime Video also announced some positive news.

Season 3 will have an expanded episode count from the 10 that were originally ordered, as the new season will feature 11 episodes.
