BRIDGERTON fans have been patiently waiting for the third series of the Netflix hit to be released – and luckily they have plenty to sink their teeth into.
The new episodes don’t hold back when it comes to raunch – a relief for those who complained about the second season’s more composed tone.
‘Kantony’ in love
The last series of Bridgerton ended with Viscount Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) marrying the love of his life and Kate (Simone Ashley).
The third series begins as the couple are adjusting to married life and enjoying time together after their honeymoon.
The two are seen lying naked in bed together and it doesn’t take long for the chemistry to take effect.
Of passionate kisses, Antony then runs down his wife’s body.
Just as he starts to speed things up, the pair are interrupted by the noisy arrival of the rest of the Bridgerton clan as they invade the London house.
Various lesbian games
Elsewhere Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) arrives back in London from his travels and first takes off his clothes in the carriage on the way to the debutante’s appearance before Her Majesty Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel).
Benedict asks how he has become “so robust” on his travels, since, like his brother before him, Colin is enjoying the attention of all the young ladies in high society.
Refusing to settle down and sow his wild oats, throughout the series he is seen naked with two mysterious women as they kiss him.
Later, when he finds himself thinking about a life with Penelope – or ‘Pen’ as he calls her – he visits the boudoir, but soon decides he’s not in the mood.
But since he already paid, he clocks as the two women enjoy a lesbian sex show for your pleasure.
Featheringtons in action
Next, Penelope (Nicola Caughlan) decides she wants to get married in this series to escape the wrath of her two angry sisters.
Unfortunately, they are both married and vying to be the first to produce an heir to the Featherington estate, after their cheating and misguided cousin sails back across the lake.
After her mother, Portia (Polly Walker), receives a visit from The Crown’s lawyer – who promises to investigate the mysterious circumstances surrounding her new fortune – she encourages her daughters to get pregnant, and fast!
Mom asks, “Should we tell a baker to bake?” as viewers get a quick glimpse into their lives behind closed doors.
Bessie Carter – played by the daughter of Imelda Staunton and Jim Carter – plays the particularly competitive sister Prudence Featherington.
In the second episode, she tries to sneak out with her husband at the new hot air balloon public festival for some behind-the-tent action.
Unfortunately, everything goes wrong when they drop one of the strings that stabilize the balloons, putting his sister in danger.
Fortunately, Penelope is saved by new suitor Lord Debling (Sam Phillips).
The new history of Benedict XVI
At the same festival, Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) meets the seductive widow, Lady Tilley Arnold (Hannah New).
Although he initially expresses disdain, the second eldest of the brothers enjoys several flirtations at Ton’s balls.
After dance scenes filled with lingering sexual tension, he opts to call Arnold’s residence in a sweet gesture.
Naively, she is not interested in conversations about physics or technological science, but simply wants to take the hunk to her room.
The pair are seen in several passionate embraces as they embark on a secret affair despite their age difference.
Polin’s spicy scenes
But of course the series focuses on the love story between Nicola Coughlan’s Penelope Featherington and the dashing Colin Bridgerton (Newton).
Colin promises to help Penelope in her search for a husband, but he finds himself in an awkward situation.
His classes don’t go as planned and Ton discovers his misguided adventures, all thanks to a vengeful Eloise (Claudia Jessie) who couldn’t help but gossip with her new friend Cressida Cowper (Jessica Madsen).
In a moment recreated from Julia Quinn’s best-selling book Romancing Mister Bridgerton, in the dead of night, Penelope asks Colin to kiss her.
The helpful kiss is quick but passionate, which soon leaves an unsuspecting Colin caught off guard.
Later, he can’t help but see her in his dreams – against the garden wall – as he imagines steamier scenes with his friend.
After weeks of agony, he finally declares his love for her in the carriage, after she was devastated by Lord Debling calling off their relationship.
They both indulge their hidden passions as Colin lifts her emerald green dress for a carriage ride like no other.
If the first four episodes are anything to go by, then the second half of the third series is sure to be amazing!
Waking up naked
By Felicity Cross
WHEN Bridgerton landed during lockdown, it took us to a world of bejeweled dresses, lavish balls and endless shagging – and the world went crazy for it.
Even the sexless second series didn’t dampen viewers’ desire for the Regency romp and fans eagerly awaited the arrival of the third series.
Fortunately, they won’t be disappointed.
The opening finally gives us some action from the beautiful series featuring two newlyweds Anthony and Kate in scenes that would make your grandmother blush.
There’s drama and intrigue as the hunt for Lady Whistledown excites us, and laugh-out-loud comedy from the chaotic Featherington family.
But ultimately the season belongs to new romantic leads Colin and Penelope, whose will-they-won’t-they love story is fun, flirty and totally believable and its climax at the end of episode four will take your breath away.
Is Bridgerton still must-see television? Corset is.
