But Netflix fans may also notice a significant difference when a character takes center stage in the series.

Francesca Bridgerton is central to the plot of the new installment of the hit period drama.

The sixth brother was more of a background character in the first two installments and was completely absent in several episodes.

Now she’s made her society debut and, to take on the challenge, Hannah Dodd, 28, has replaced Ruby Stokes, 23, in the role.

Now, Bridgerton executive producer Shonda Rhimes, 54, has explained why the character was recast, saying we have more to see from the character.

She explained: “It’s really wonderful to welcome Hannah – and Francesca.

“We’ve only seen little bits of Francesca in previous seasons, and this season she’s back from a trip and she’s ready to get married, and you’ll really know who Fran is.

“Fran has always been the invisible sister and now she steps into the spotlight in more ways than one so we can get to know her.”

In Julia Quinn’s original book series, on which the Netflix series is based, Francesca is also a somewhat distant figure.

Her dedicated storyline is the sixth episode of the bestselling series, and in that novel she is specifically described as having “felt a little different from the rest of her family.”

In the new series, the character makes her debut into society as her mother Violet (Ruth Gemmell) plans to see her find a husband in the future. married Marketplace.

However, she remains somewhat overwhelmed by Ton as she searches for a partner who is truly in line with her more reserved, music-loving nature.

Bridgerton Festival

WHEN Bridgerton landed during lockdown, it took us to a world of bejeweled dresses, lavish balls and endless shagging – and the world went crazy for it.

Even the sexless second series didn’t dampen viewers’ desire for the Regency romp and fans eagerly awaited the arrival of the third series.

Fortunately, they won’t be disappointed.

The opening finally gives us some action from the beautiful series featuring two newlyweds Anthony and Kate in scenes that would make your grandmother blush.

There’s drama and intrigue as the hunt for Lady Whistledown excites us, and laugh-out-loud comedy from the chaotic Featherington family.

But ultimately the season belongs to new romantic leads Colin and Penelope, whose will-they-won’t-they love story is fun, flirty and totally believable and its climax at the end of episode four will take your breath away.

Is Bridgerton still must-see television? Corset is.

Original actress Ruby Stokes left the show to film another drama, called Lockwood & Co.

Hannah Dodd, 28, also admitted that filming her first scenes as the character was “terrifying” and she identified with the role.

“Francesca is getting ready to [her debut] … Filming it was absolutely terrifying because it was early in production,” she admitted.

“There was a little bit of life imitating art there. She was nervous and I was nervous. She was watching people, and I was watching people to learn. We were kind of going through it together.”

Meanwhile, series director Tom Verica praised the actress for stepping into an environment that could be considered “intimidating” because the cast already knows each other so well.

He said: “It must be very intimidating coming into this world, especially with all these actors knowing each other.

“She revealed later in the season that she was absolutely terrified, which we didn’t see at the time, but we assumed that going into that environment could be very difficult.

“We were very clear about welcoming her and making her feel at home, but she was absolutely perfect, taking on this role and really giving us a new vision of Francesca.

“We didn’t really see much of her world; just little bits here and there. For Hannah to embody this character, with all her idiosyncrasies and quirks, was incredible.

The director added: “I simply couldn’t be more pleased with this actress playing this role and seeing Francesca emerge and find her own love in a very different way than everyone else.

“I just loved her relationship with Violet and how close they became – acceptance is a big part of that. Ultimately, what will you do as a parent when your child starts looking for love?

“What do you want to do to help make your child happy? Hannah and Ruth have navigated this world and this dynamic together so beautifully.”
