Who is Power star Michael Rainey Jr?

Michael Rainey Jr. is best known for playing Tariq St. Patrick on the TV series Power.

He starred in Power from 2014 until its conclusion in 2020 and reprized his role in its spinoff, Power Book II: Ghost.

In March 2024, it was announced that Power Book II: Ghost would conclude at the end of its fourth season, which premiered on June 7, 2024.

Prior to his roles in the Power universe, Michael worked on seven episodes of Orange is the New Black.

Additionally, he is the executive producer of The Crew Has It podcast, for IMDB.

Michael Rainey Jr. briefly appeared on Tylil James’ Twitch stream for an interview segment on June 9, 2024.

However, shortly after the broadcast began, James’ sister Jahgee approached Michael and appeared to grope him.

Jahgee apparently placed her hands on him, but the action was blocked by others in the room.

Viewers say Michael looked uncomfortable and seemed to pull Jahgee away from him.

James, who did not see the interaction between his sister and Rainey Jr., asked what happened, but the other man said he would tell her later.

The actor abruptly left the stream moments later.

Initially, fans criticized James for not taking the situation seriously. The streamer shared a public apology to Michael the following day.

On his Instagram Story, he wrote: “After the actions that occurred during my broadcast last night, I would like to sincerely apologize to Michael and his family for what happened.

“My younger sister was completely wrong and crossed the line. What she did was very inappropriate and unacceptable.

“I am truly embarrassed and disgusted by her actions. I completely respect whatever direction Michael wants to go in this situation.”

Michael also addressed the situation on his Instagram Story. He wrote: “At this point, everyone has seen the video circulating online.

“I’m still in shock and don’t know how to process what happened last night. This is an unfortunate situation that I do not tolerate in any way.

“I cannot take this lightly because I know I would be in serious trouble if the roles were reversed.

“The fact is that sexual assault is never acceptable, regardless of gender or status. We are all human and should respect each other. Most importantly, we must respect each other.”

What movies did Michael Rainey Jr appear in?

Michael Rainey Jr. has starred in several films throughout his career.

The young actor, fluent in Italian according to Distractstarred in the 2010 English and Italian film Un Altro Mondo.

He was just ten years old when the film was released.

Michael later starred alongside Common in the 2012 film Luv.

In 2013, he played young Cecil Gaines opposite Oscar winner Forest Whitaker in The Butler. Oprah Winfrey also starred in the film.

He also appeared in 2016’s Barbershop: The Next Cut.
