A NEW Netflix documentary highlights allegedly coercive behavior against a group of TikTok dancers.
Dancing for the Devil: The 7M TikTok Cult follows the real-life story of artists, including Miranda Derrick, who are trapped in a cult disguised as a management company called 7M.
Who is Miranda Derrick?
Miranda is known for being a dancer, choreographer, YouTuber and social media star.
She first rose to fame when she competed in the 12th series of So You Think You Can Dance.
She appears in the Netflix documentary series “Dancing for the Devil: The 7M TikTok Cult”.
Several dancers previously signed to management company 7M Films have signed a 2023 lawsuit against 7M Films and its owner, Robert Shinn, as well as former members of Shinn’s controversial Shekinah Church.
Miranda Derrick drew attention for the allegations her family made in a video posted on Instagram in 2022, accusing 7M of exercising unhealthy control over its dancers.
Miranda Derrick responded to the documentary in a statement on June 4, saying, in part, “I am not a victim, I am not being harmed, I am not being abused.
“I never asked my family or anyone else to “help” me in any way.
“Respectfully, what I choose to do with my life is up to me.”
What did Miranda Derrick do on Dancing for the Devil: The 7M TikTok Cult?
Miranda gained popularity with her sister, Melanie Wilking, through their shared social media account Wilking Sisters, before Miranda joined a group called 7M, which was considered a cult.
The three-part series’ description states: “After TikTok dancers join a management company and its associated church, disturbing details about the founder and his dark realities come to light.”
Miranda’s family spoke on the series, explaining how Miranda cut ties with them three years ago when she began working with 7M Films.
It is run by Los Angeles church pastor Shinn.
The documentary series includes interviews with dancers who have left 7M Films and are in civil litigation with Shinn.
Some dancers alleged on the series that Shinn encouraged his followers to cut off contact with his family to save them.
One dancer explained how Miranda once mentioned that she missed her family.
The pastor reportedly told her it wasn’t a good idea to see them – and the dancer feared Miranda was being brainwashed.
