“I’m making his life difficult and it’s a very funny scene. I mean, it’s hilarious,” Chantal told The US Sun.
And although she said Eddie was wonderful to work with and that he was “amazing,” she was advised by workers on set not to approach him.
‘DO NOT SPEAK WITH HIM!’
She exclusively told The US Sun: “I managed to do the test, which was wonderful, but they said, ‘don’t talk to him’,” she said.
“’You know, just do your job. He doesn’t talk to people.’”
“So everyone is giving you advice on how to be, but you are the only person who will be on set. You want to take the advice because you don’t know, you’re like, ‘Okay, maybe this is how I should be because, you know, this is my first studio movie.'”
The test took place a few days before the scheduled date for filming his scene.
‘JUST THE TWO OF US’
Chantal took advantage of the opportunity and chatted with Eddie during filming.
It was just him and her in the scene, so she was able to form a bond with him.

“There are no other distractions. It’s just the two of us and the director,” said Chantal.
“I see him walking towards me and he is super calm. And he’s actually kind of shy and reserved.”
Chantal said she spoke to Eddie before starting the scene and said it was an honor to work with him.
“It’s just the two of us and I thought, ‘I don’t want to be weird.’ I’m trying not to talk, but I’m like, ‘I’m going to say something,'” the actress shared.
“So I started talking to him.”
CONNECTION WITH EDDIE
Chantal told Eddie that she is from Cameroon and when he did the Trading Places program he mentioned that he was an exchange student from there.
“You really put us on the map. Thank you for always honoring Africa,” she told Eddie.
He also honed in on his African heritage in the film Coming To America.
She continued: “And he looks at me and just smiles.
“After that, we started riffing. I called him Mr. Murphy. He said ‘Please don’t call me Mr. Murphy. It makes me feel old,'” Chantal laughed.
Chantal said Eddie then gave her tips on what to do.
“My reaction was like, he’s so kind. And I’m so glad I went in and was myself. I will never forget that,” she said.
A SPECIAL MOMENT
Another thing Chantal will never forget is that in between photos, Eddie asked the professional photographer on set to take a picture of them.
“He didn’t do it for anyone else. And he said, ‘Make sure this gets printed and she gets it tonight,'” Chantal shared.
The actress said that after the photo, other people on set asked about the conversation.
She fluffed her hair and joked, “You know this is between me and Mr. Murphy.”
Chantal only worked with Eddie on set, but was looking forward to meeting everyone at the premiere, which took place on June 21st.
Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F also stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Judge Reinhold, John Ashton, Paul Reiser, Kevin Bacon, Taylour Paige and more.
Chantal also starred in Detroit’s Diarra, where she played a character named Hot Sauce.
