Former QB says Netflix skewer ‘affected my kids’, Nikki Glaser thinks he knew ‘exactly what he was getting himself into’

Tom Brady regrets his Netflix roast – the impact it had on his children – but roaster Nikki Glazer He says it’s “impossible” for him not to have thought about it before.

Tom Brady’s Roast is the streamer’s top show this week, with more than 15 million views of the former NFL quarterback receiving comedic slaps from Glaser, host Kevin Hart, Kim Kardashian and Ben Affleck, among others. Although Brady knew it would be a joke, he claims he didn’t expect how it would hurt “the people I care about most in the world.”

“I loved it when the jokes were about me, I thought they were really funny,” Brady said on Tuesday. The Pivô Podcast. “I didn’t like the way it affected my children.”

He continued: “It’s the hardest part – the bittersweet aspect – when you do something that you think is one way and then suddenly you realize, ‘I wouldn’t do it again because of the way it affected me, in fact, the people I care most about in the world.’”

Brady – who shares eldest son Jack, 16, with actress Bridget Moynahan and son Benjamin, 14, and daughter Vivian, 11, with model ex-wife Gisele Bündchen – admitted he was “naive” about what had happened signed at the May 5 event. Bündchen’s divorce and her subsequent relationship with her children’s jiu jitsu teacher, Joaquim Valente, were among the jokes. Bündchen was reportedly “deeply disappointed” by the jokes at her expense.

Her former boss, New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, who was in attendance was also the highlight of her visit to the massage parlor. Brady got up from his chair to tell comedian Jeff Ross, “Don’t you ever say that shit again” after his annoyance.

Brady called the roast a “good lesson” and said he “will be a better father as I move forward because of it.” He went on to say that he was happy that those who attended the live event — including former teammates and celebrities like Affleck — “had a great time.” After all, “if we’re not laughing about things, we’re crying,” he said. “And I think we should have more fun.”

Brady isn’t the only one reflecting on the roast

On Wednesdays Today with Hoda and Jenna, Glaser — the comedian who coached Brady during the roast and criticized him for getting Moynahan pregnant by Bündchen — was asked about his comments. She found it “impossible” that he had not considered the repercussions.

Brady “maybe didn’t consider his family’s reaction and how it would affect them,” she admitted. “But I also think Tom Brady doesn’t do anything without researching and knowing exactly what he’s getting into.”

Glaser added: “It’s impossible for me that he didn’t consider what could have happened because there’s roasted footage out there that you can watch and say, ‘They’re going to try so hard.’” While she could see it, given his successful career and “how much people love him,” he might also be in a bubble.

“No one has ever said anything bad to him in the last 30 years,” she said, “I really don’t think he thought they would go there.”

In a separate interview, Glaser talked about fellow roaster Kardashian texting her after the show to say she “killed it on the roast.” The reality star — who was booed during the live show but was later edited out for the special — also told Glaser of the takedown comedy, “I don’t know how you do it; It’s abuse, haha.”

Apparently it could have been worse. Brady’s former teammate Drew Bledsoe revealed that his wife, Maura, was the one who wrote the joke about Brady “not being touched” at the end of his marriage to Bündchen.

“It was a replacement for a joke I had written that was much worse.” Bledsoe said on Mondays Dan Le Batard show with Stugotz podcast. “But she said, ‘No, you can’t do that,’ so she helped me write one that was a little more like a softball.”

Brady gulped down a few sips after Bledsoe spoke. As for what he would say, Bledsoe responded: “Let’s not go there. [My wife] told me he couldn’t say that.

Bledsoe added that when it comes to mocking Brady, “You can’t really make fun of his career,” which earned him seven Super Bowl victories. … We had to jump to the personal issues.”
