“Women would need clarity in marriage at this time.

“A mother-to-be can reach out and offer the opportunity for her partner to show up.

“If they don’t show up or can’t show up at that time, that’s a very enlightening thing to happen.

“Maybe Cardi B’s divorce is the truest outcome.”

Cardi B filed for divorce from Offset in 2020, and after cheating rumors circulated.

Son Wave came in 2021 with Cardi B confessing on X that she experienced “weird postpartum hormones” once again.

“I can’t wait until these weird postpartum hormones completely leave my body. I’m crying for no reason,” she wrote.

LOSE OPPORTUNITY

Marks suggested that Cardi B’s postpartum struggle depended on support.

“Cardi B has had postpartum depression twice before,” she said.

“She may not have access to as much support as she had in the past during her pregnancy.

“She may not have seen people as much, especially at the beginning of her pregnancies.

“When you have experienced postnatal depression before, the risk of experiencing it again rises to around 30%.

“You can implement safety measures to help avoid postpartum depression like we’ve had before.

“My advice to Cardi B would be support, support, support.

“This could be an opportunity for her to figure it out now and have more people around her.

“Cardi B may be forced to slow down in more ways than one.”

Elizabeth Marks’ top tips for dealing with postpartum depression

  1. Isolate what has worked for you before and what hasn’t.
  2. Be aware of not feeling isolated.
  3. Call friends and tell them what you need for support.
  4. Find a therapist as you experience postpartum depression to begin working together while you are still pregnant.
  5. Decide on a support system and find people to help you.
  6. Decide and know that doing your best is for the baby, as sometimes new moms feel they need to be hyper-present.
  7. The best thing for a baby is to be the best version of its mother.

Marks was hopeful about Cardi B’s third pregnancy and claimed the mother of two was being “authentic” in her messages.

“This is a full circle moment for Cardi B and Offset,” she said.

“It could be them saying we’re going to have a beautiful child together and there’s love, but we’re not going to move forward together.

For Cardi B, there’s a bit of confidence that comes from the experiences she’s had before.

“It would not have been authentic to announce the birth or the divorce or vice versa.

“They decided their relationship would change and move forward as co-parents rather than partners.”

“For Cardi B, there’s a little bit of confidence that comes from the experiences she’s had before,” Marks continued.

“She will never experience birth or those things for the first time again.

“This birth could be completely different and hopefully she will utilize the evidence and support she has had before.

“She was able to find the strength from those other two pregnancies to help her step into the next space.

For Offset, he would need to figure out how to align and support with that in mind.

Elizabeth Marcostherapist

“Pregnancy is physical, emotional and mental, so every part of her body is working double time.

“This means that doubling down on time for her in the relationship can be difficult.

“For Offset, he would need to figure out how to align and support with that in mind.

“For any partner, if there is an opportunity to show up for the person carrying the child in any way, shape, or form, then do so.

“This could be done altruistically and without seeking anything reciprocal.

“They can also find joy in maintaining what’s best for their children, which isn’t always parental unity.

“No matter what the relationship is like now, both parents should prioritize time with the child and bonding.”
