JLO will hit the red carpet at tonight’s Met Gala in New York City and probably won’t think about her childhood growing up a few miles uptown in the Bronx.

According to one stylist, although the Hollywood star’s outfit is a world away from her Jenny from the Block days, the choice was careful.

Jennifer Lopez, 54, shared a clip about Instagram on May 1 showing off her favorite Met Gala looks.

The Atlas star wore a cascading red sequin Versace dress and a pastel blue Valentino dress from 2017, both with a ’60s hairstyle.

“Dress not just for the parties that life offers,” said part of the clip.

“I can’t WAIT to see your look for this year’s meeting, I just know it will be breathtaking as always,” reacted a fan.

“I met Gala Queen,” added another.

Stylist Lalla Bronstein said the pop star will “stay true to herself” at the star-studded gala.

JLo — who recently released her ninth album, This Is Me… Now — co-hosts alongside Bad Bunny and Zendaya.

“I have a few different sketches, I’m still deciding,” she said Vogue in April.

“I’m one of those people who chooses at the last minute,” he added.

“When JLo co-hosts tonight, she will stay true to herself but use more of her iconic style,” Bronstein told The US Sun.

“She will look sophisticated yet sexy wearing a sparkly or sparkly floor-length silhouette dress.

Whatever she chooses for the Met Gala, it will be a far cry from her Jenny From The Block days.

Lalla Bronstein

“Her appearance at the Met Gala will undoubtedly be another memorable one. She will probably have sexual siren status.

“JLo continues to choose elegant, sophisticated styles that fully embrace her iconic fashion status.

“Whatever she chooses for the Met Gala will be very different from her Jenny From The Block days.”

DANCE QUEEN

JLo’s beginnings as a young dancer and singer included crop tops and low-rise jeans.

She appeared at many award ceremonies but maintained her tomboyish style.

At the 2000 VMAs, she was on her way to becoming a fashion icon with her embellished white top and Sean John jeans.

She started wearing belts and headbands as accessories.

“I was kind of relaxed and tomboyish, but with a little bit of sexy,” she told Vogue of her past fashion choices.

Bronshtein said the star looked “fun sexy” when she first rose to fame.

“JLo started wearing low-waisted white pants and crop tops, and then we see the white bandana at the VMAs.

“This look had a sexy, playful, fun vibe, and she became known for it.”

GREEN GODDESS

JLo’s iconic Versace dress for the 2000 Grammy Awards was equally unforgettable.

She was dating rapper Sean Coombs, then called Puff Daddy, and caused a storm with her midriff-cut jungle chiffon print.

JLo has since called the dress her “most famous” fashion moment.

Bronshtein claimed the flimsy chiffon number marked the beginning of JLo’s movie star status and a rise in her style.

Now, she is one of the highest-paid Latina actresses in the world, having appeared in box office hits like Monster-In-Law.

The Versace dress marked the beginning of her more glamorous style journey.

Lalla Bronstein

“When Lopez became a real movie star, she stood out with her style,” she said.

“The Versace dress marked the beginning of her more glamorous style journey.

“JLo began to lean more and more into the Hollywood screen siren vibe.

“Her look and wardrobe expanded and took a new direction.”

RETURN TO ROUTINE

Off the red carpet, JLo opted for comfy sweats.

Her pink Juicy Couture look for her 2001 video, “I’m Real,” arrived before her 2002 breakout hit, Jenny from the Block.

“The designers brought me all this sophisticated couture from all the big designers,” she said Vogue in 2018.

“I loved them so much that I decided to use [them] in the video with my old Adidas and my nameplate and a bagel.”

Bronshtein said JLo consistently channels “simple sensuality.”

“When JLo first hit the scene in the 90s and 2000s, her style was simply sensual on and off the red carpet.”

“In her pop videos, she wore velvet tracksuits and later introduced her pink Juicy Couture.

“On the red carpet, JLo started favoring sparkly minidresses and started playing around with fun fashion.”

STYLE

JLo’s stylists are Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn. They worked on it closet since 2010.

“There really is no one like her. No one does what she does. Or how she does it. She encourages everyone around her to be a better version of themselves,” Zangardi said. Vogue in 2021.

“We can really have fun with this variety of looks. One day we’re rooting for a music video and the next week we might be rooting for the Oscars,” he said.

COLOR IN

JLo continued to light up the red carpet by experimenting with lots of unique and bold colors and silhouettes.

At the 2019 Toronto Film Awards, she paired her multi-layered, ruffled yellow Maison Yeya dress with a fun blonde bob.

She started wearing a lot more ultra-low necklines and super high slits.

“JLo has always embraced looks that show off her flawless figure,” Bronshtein added.

“She started wearing a lot more ultra-low necklines and super-high slits.

“She then moved on to timeless styles that are always in fashion.

“Some can be used on all occasions.

“JLo’s least stylish outfits are probably her minidresses and boots.

“These choices don’t fully embrace her chic style like her other longer silhouette outfits.”

MATURE AT WEDDING

Jennifer, who has been divorced three times, married actor Ben Affleck in 2022.

After dating Alex Rodriguez, she rekindled her romance with Ben, giving rise to Bennifer 2.0.

Embracing motherhood also seemed to usher in her next fashion era.

“Naturally, over time, with age, work, children and different relationships, your style changes,” Bronshtein said.

“When JLo married Ben Affleck, her style had already matured to a more demure and sophisticated style.

“Her wedding dress was elegant.”

Nowadays she is even more attentive to her appearance, age and occasion.

Lalla Bronstein

JLo told Hoda Kotb on The Today show in February that her twins, Emme and Max, 16, impact her style choices.

“My kids are like, ‘Mom. The crop top,’” the Can’t Get Enough singer laughed.

“No. They don’t like that,” she confirmed.

“These days, she is even more considerate of her appearance, her age and the occasion,” Bronshtein added.

“That’s why she may have thought long before the biggest fashion event of the year.

“JLo probably had to make a last minute outfit choice for the Met Gala.”
