FROM posting their pregnancy to filming their labor pains, the Kardashians have been open about their children since day one.

A parenting expert has revealed how Khloe’s honesty in not naming her son for eight months could affect the child in the long run.

Kirsty Ketley spoke exclusively to The US Sun about how Khloe’s delay in naming her son Tatum could affect their relationship in the future.

Talking about the She is a doctor Podcast, the 39-year-old reality star explained why she had such a hard time naming her son.

Khloe, a patient of co-host Dr. Thaïs Aliabadi, opened up about her initial difficulty forming a bond with her son, whom she welcomed through surrogacy in July 2023.

She revealed that she called her second son Daddy for the first part of his life.

“We always called him baby or I call him daddy all the time,” Khloe told the podcasters.

She remembered the difficulty she had not only in naming the boy but also in creating a bond with him.

“It’s interesting because I wasn’t carrying it, I didn’t really feel anything,” Khloe said.

She explained that when she finally chose a name, she made sure it wasn’t too over the top.

“I like unique names, but not eccentric names,” said the mother of two.

“I think our family has enough eccentric names. I didn’t want to have too much craziness.”

She revealed that her son was eight months old when she was able to legally name him.

Ketley explained how this unique start in life could shape Tatum’s bond with his mother.

“Khloe has spoken openly about how she struggled to feel connected to her son throughout her surrogate pregnancy,” Ketley said.

She added that this feeling of disconnection lingered in the months after Tatum was born.

I think by not naming him she could have amplified her disconnect.

“Given the drama surrounding her and Tristan at the time, this may have had an emotional impact on her and caused her to disconnect from her son,” she explained.

Khloe’s ex-partner Tristan Thompson had a child with another woman while the couple were expecting their second child.

“This may have been a factor in the difficulty of finding a name, she [may have] felt he needed the same kind of connection he had experienced with [daughter] Truth first,” Ketley said.

“I think by not naming him, she could have amplified their disconnect.”

The parenting pro explained that while the bond affects both parents and children, the situation “will likely have had a greater impact on Khloe.”

“She probably had feelings of guilt and shame and was probably frustrated and disappointed,” Ketley explained.

“This is something she can carry with her throughout his life, so she can compensate as he grows – not leaving him, transporting him by helicopter, for example.”

Ketley highlighted that baby Tatum’s first few months would not have been affected by not having a name, but warned that Khloe’s openness about her struggle could affect him in the future.

Tatum may find this difficult to hear, especially if he feels like he has always been treated differently than his sister.

“It could be that he feels differently about his sister, or he could feel that she was treated in a better way with him because they have that bond,” she said.

She revealed that feelings of disconnection toward a child born through surrogacy are not uncommon.

“It shouldn’t impact the child as long as a good, close bond is forged as everyone gets used to the situation, and it seems like everything is going very well right now,” Ketley said.

She praised the reality TV star for “speaking so openly” and helping to shed light on the matter.

However, she still warned the socialite to be careful when sharing her experience.

“In years to come, Tatum may find this difficult to hear, especially if he feels he has always been treated differently than his sister,” she said.

Ketley explained how this behavior, known as oversharing, can cause embarrassment to a child and create concerns about a lack of privacy.

“While it can be disruptive, it also makes kids think they need to share everything online, because validation through likes and comments is the way to feel fulfilled,” she said.

“This can lead to issues with self-esteem and confidence, anxiety, stress, depression, and addiction to social media and screens.”

However, she highlighted that this lifestyle is common for the Kardashians and said it’s likely that Khloe’s children see it as a normal part of their lives.
