BELLA Hadid lost her title as Cannes Fashion Queen the moment she stepped onto the film festival’s iconic red carpet, a stylist says.
She claimed the once-lauded trendsetter defied the event’s dress code after she took off her bra and put on a see-through plunging neckline.
Bella, 27, is famous for rocking bold looks.
Her return appearance at the 77th Cannes Film Festival was no exception.
After a two-year hiatus, Bella hit the red carpet for the screening of The Apprentice on Friday.
The supermodel opted for an expensive Saint Laurent cocktail dress by Anthony Vaccarello.

She paired it with La Scandale wedges and Chopard jewelry.
The tan number matched her skin, and a rushed bodice connected the top and bottom sections.
New York stylist Tavia Sharp said it was “shocking” that Bella didn’t cover her breasts at the prestigious French event.
The Orebealla founder last attended in 2022 and opted for a more demure look.
Her long white Gucci dress had cutouts at the hips.
“This sheer, nude section of the 2024 dress ended just below the crotch,” Sharp told The US Sun.
“The top half of the dress made Bella look completely naked.
“It was as if she had someone’s stockings hanging over her bare breasts.
Before, Bella was the Queen of Cannes, but with this nude dress, it went wrong for her.”

“It seemed shocking that she had nothing covering at least some of her breasts.
“The color also matched her skin tone to help her stand out.
“Before Bella was the Queen of Cannes, but with this nude dress it went wrong for her.
“Bella seemed starved for attention.”
ELEGANT DRESS CODE
Over the course of a week, the film festival sees stars supporting premieres and parties across the picturesque European city.
Selena Gomez, Ann Joy Taylor, Eva Longoria and Meryl Streep were on the red carpet list.
Black-tie dress code and red carpet rules include wearing high heels.
“To attend the gala screenings, a tuxedo with bow tie or evening dress is required,” state the latest rules.
“Failing that, you can wear a cocktail dress, a dark pantsuit, a smart top with black pants, a black dress, a black or midnight blue suit with a bow tie….
“Elegant shoes are mandatory, with or without heels, the rules conclude, prohibiting sneakers.
And the stars know it.
“There is a distinct dress code,” said Kristen Stewart The Hollywood Reporter after she took off her heels in 2017.
“People get really upset with you if you don’t wear heels or something.”
Chris Hemsworth forgot his tie at the premiere of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga this year and broke the black tie code.
According to the fashion bible WWD, a Vogue employee was rejected in 2023 because of her colorful outfit.
BROKEN RULES
Sharp said the Cannes red carpet meant “conservative” dresses.
Stars are known for wearing “classic” dresses and tuxedos.
“Cannes is more conservative than other red carpets,” she said.
“Normally people are a little more covered up and celebrities should wear classic looks.
This isn’t about Hollywood movie releases where the stars are there to impress and wear whatever they want.

“There are also unspoken rules, so Bella would know that everything needs to be controlled.
“This is a very elegant film industry event in a European venue.
“It is focused on professional film production and the promotion of low-budget and Indian films.
“This isn’t about Hollywood movie releases where the stars are there to impress and wear whatever they want.
“This means chic, elegant and understated fashion for the media, the film industry and fans.
“Then we come to Bella Hadid,” who didn’t fit in “despite her dress being by a French designer.
“Bella was technically wearing a party dress.
“They didn’t expect to add anything about being half-naked or showing her nipple.”
Bella became a fashion favorite after appearing on La Croisette in 2015.
Titled Queen of Cannes by designer Law Roach, she continued to showcase many designer outfits.
Bella looked stunning in 2019 in a red silk dress for the premiere of The Unknown Girl.
Her 2021 Schiarpelli dress did not disappoint.
WELL JUMP
Sharp agreed that Bella was always confident in her choices at the Palais des Festivals this time around.
“Bella is famous for taking risks with her style,” she said.
Bella may have tried to smooth everything over with her shoes, but otherwise she didn’t seem to care.

“She also never had a problem showing off her physique and body.
“She’s been getting sexier with her look, that’s fine, but Cannes wasn’t the place to follow that trajectory.
“The only aspect she got right was her heels. The shoe was also specific and an exciting choice.
“Because they are more conservative and work on the red carpet because they are closed off on their toes.
“Bella may have tried to smooth it all over with the shoes, but otherwise she didn’t seem to care.”
The Washington, D.C. native and sister of model Gigi Hadid has responded to criticism about her style.
“Who doesn’t like my style… I’m glad it’s mine. And not yours!!” she wrote in an Instagram Story post in the past.
Interestingly, when Bella arrived at Cannes on Sunday, Sharp said her casual dress didn’t fit either.
“So she was photographed in a brown minidress with Prada heels,” she said.
“This dress was appropriate for the day, but it also didn’t fit well.”
RIVAL STAR
Sharp said it was Selena Gomez who nailed it this season.
“This year, Selena Gomez looked great,” she added.
“She looked elegant in all her outfits, including some elegant looks.
“Although Selena still showed some cleavage, it was done in a very elegant and sophisticated way.
“Bella’s dress seemed inappropriate and unnecessary.”
