CELEBRITIES have shelled out thousands of dollars on weight-loss medication, perhaps wanting to regain the physique they enjoyed in their youth.

A nutritionist suggested that those struggling with “Ozempic face” may have used high doses of weight-loss medication and then their weight could have “yo-yo.”

“Ozempic Face” has become a Hollywood buzz phrase resulting from rapid weight loss that can cause sagging facial skin.

It is one of the possible side effects of using weight loss medications with semaglutide or tirzepatide, sold under brand names such as Ozempic, Wegovy or Mounjaro.

Nutritionist Rania BataynehMPH and author of The One One One Dietnoted that some stars who may have used injections or pills may be facing this consequence.

“After severe calorie restriction using these drugs, some stars may feel conflicted about the appearance of their faces,” Batayneh told The US Sun.

“Sudden weight loss can result in a more dramatic, thinner appearance.

“The fuller faces may have disappeared and a more empty one appears.

“Once they reach their ideal weight, it may be too late to compensate for the consequences of Ozempic’s face.

“For some, it can significantly affect skin texture and elasticity.

“If people decrease their weekly dosage or stop taking Ozempic, the focus may shift to the face and [people may] notice that it is getting very thin.”

Even so, not everyone who takes the drugs – famous or not – has had major changes to their face.

Batayneh listed which stars she thinks may have been hit and explained why some appear to have Ozempic’s face while others do not.

SHARON’S HOLLOW WEIGHT LOSS

Sharon Osbourne, 71, opened up about losing 42 pounds using Ozempic after starting the injections in 2022.

“You can lose a lot of weight and it’s easy to get addicted to it, which is very dangerous,” said Sharon Daily Mail after stopping injections.

“All that mattered to me was, ‘I want it now,’” she said on British talk show Loose Women in 2023.

Batayneh said Sharon “ended up with a dramatic and meaningful Ozempic face.”

“She has a gaunt appearance and looks empty, rather than just not having a fuller face,” she explained.

“This is due to rapid weight loss; she probably took a high dose.

“This has a significant impact on skin texture and elasticity.”

SCOTT GOES CRAZY

Scott Disick, 40, started looking thin in April, with fans concerned about his slender frame.

According to Daily MailSources claimed the Hulu star used a weight-loss medication to get rid of his “dad bod.”

“Scott started taking Ozempic because he had serious problems with weight gain. This time last year, he saw himself as fat,” they said.

Scott and Sharon have probably been up and down with their weight for a long time.

“He gained a lot of weight and couldn’t bear to see himself in videos broadcast over the last few months.”

While Scott hasn’t confirmed using a weight-loss medication, fans of the Kardashians noticed what appeared to be a box of Mounjaro in his fridge in an episode that aired in May.

“Scott probably looks like he looks like Ozempic because he may have lost weight quickly,” Batayneh said.

“He may have eaten too much or maybe he wasn’t motivated.

“We have seen publicly some of his challenges with drinking alcohol and maybe partying and possibly making bad choices.

“Scott and Sharon may have been up and down with their weight for a long time.

“The weight of these two was probably a yo-yo. As a result, it looks like they might have Ozempic faces.”

WHOOPI AND OPRAH’S NATURAL PHINK

Whoopi Goldberg, 68, opened up about losing weight after turning to Mounjaro.

“I’ll tell you, I weighed almost 300 pounds when I did Till,” she said on The View in March, referring to her 2022 film.

“I took all these steroids, I was taking all these things, and one of the things that helped me lose weight was Mounjaro.”

Whoopi’s Ozempic face is less dramatic.

Oprah Winfrey, 70, also talked about using weight loss medication in 2023.

“I knew about weight loss medications, but I felt I needed to prove I had the willpower to do it. Now I don’t feel that way anymore,” she told People.

“I was actually recommending it to people long before I started doing it,” she added.

Oprah referred to Ozempic as a “maintenance tool.”

“Whoopi had this weight for a long time,” Batayneh said.

“She gained 50 pounds in a year at one point.

“We don’t know his health conditions or whether there was a need, but his weight loss did not result in the dramatic change in his appearance that would have resulted in Ozempic’s face.

“Similarly, Oprah Winfrey has carried her weight for a long time.

“She probably also looks good because she exercises and maintains her healthy lifestyle.”

KELLY’S GLOW

Kelly Clarkson, 42, confirmed that she was pre-diabetic in 2023, which forced her to lose weight.

She admitted to taking weight-loss medication for two years after a warning from her doctor.

“Mine is different from what people imagine, but I ended up having to do it too because my blood test was really bad,” she said during an interview with Whoopi.

“The heaviest, I weighed about 203 pounds. And I’m about 5’1″, she said.

Batayneh stated that Kelly managed to avoid Ozempic’s face.

“Kelly had a full face and was very young, so losing some of it was, in her case, a very good consequence,” she said.

Who is taking GLP-1 medications?

New research by KFF revealed that 1 in 8 adults used a GLP-1 medicine like Ozempic.

The survey found that half of these adults still use prescriptions for weight loss.

About 2 in 5 used the drugs to lose weight, while others used them for conditions such as diabetes.

SUNNY NAILS

Sunny Hostin, 55, also admitted to using Mounjaro on The View.

She said she wanted to lose weight after gaining 40 pounds during the pandemic.

According to Batayneh, she also avoided the side effects of facial aging.

“Sunny may have started out looking younger and more toned and just gained a boost, but now she is toned,” she said.

SO WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?

How, ultimately, do some stars avoid looking older while others stay thin?

Batayneh revealed several factors that determine the face of Ozempic.

To help mitigate the Ozempic face, people could take a smaller dose over an extended period.

“When an Ozempic user loses weight, inches come off the waist, thighs and everywhere,” she said.

“If stars have been carrying weight for longer, the weight loss may not reflect that slimmer appearance.

What is food noise?

Many users of GLP-1 medications find that it does more than simply suppress their appetite.

“People inject and don’t have to worry about food because there’s no more food noise,” registered dietitian Rania Batayneh, MPH, told The US Sun.

The term “food noise” refers to an obsessive preoccupation with food, according to an article in the academic journal Nutrients.

People who take GLP-1 medications report that it helps reduce frequent or constant thoughts about food, which in turn leads them to eat less.

This, along with the appetite-suppressing effects of the medications, has been credited with allowing people who struggled to lose weight to do so more easily.

“That would be because they had a little more fullness in their face.

“Genetics, skin care, lifestyle factors and yo-yoing with weight are also at play.”

“To help mitigate the face of Ozempic, people could take a smaller dose over an extended period of time,” Batayneh explained.

“This will slow the rate of weight loss and give your skin time to adapt.

“There is also resistance training, nourishing the skin with nutrients, eating healthy omegas, and eating antioxidants.

“It is important to adopt an ideal diet, even if there are major restrictions on overall caloric intake.

“Saying that, everyone responds differently to weight loss medications.”
