FOLLOWING her bold style transformation, JoJo Siwa has been aiming for major shock value with some of her on-stage antics.

And according to one psychologist, the Dance Moms alum’s growing popularity has “reinforced” her dramatic tactics, proving she’s no longer a child star.

JoJo, 21, performed for fans throughout June in a series of high-energy Pride shows.

In Los Angeles and Chicago, the former child star took the stage and sang in revealing outfits.

But she was clearly looking to raise some eyebrows when she grabbed some Tito’s vodka on June 8, drinking straight from the bottle in front of the crowd.

Even more shocking was an NSFW dance move in which the star put her hand on the hem of her costume.

This followed similar antics on his 21st birthday at Walt Disney World.

‘It’s my 21st birthday; I’m fucking drunk right now,’ she said in an Instagram video afterwards.

On Saturday, at a New York Pride event, JoJo heckled the crowd.

She sang Guilty Pleasure while her dancers, dressed as teddy bears, ran their hands over her body.

The release of JoJo’s new single saw her dressed in gothic-inspired makeup and a plunging black jumpsuit.

Psychotherapist Dr. Marni Feuerman confirmed that JoJo was “coming across differently” to her fan base.

“This behavior is JoJo no longer wanting people to see her as a child,” Feuerman told The US Sun.

“She is trying to show herself as a woman by making a statement and presenting herself differently.

“JoJo no longer wants people to see her through the lens of being a child – or that child.

“She’s trying to say it’s cool, to be noticed and memorable.”

JoJo was also on stage groping herself and drinking vodka.

Feuerman added that sometimes JoJo’s stunts went too far.

“The drinking on stage and all that stuff was too much,” she said.

“It was about shock and drama, but many celebrities shocked like that. This was not new.

“The shock here came from seeing this abrupt transformation.

“Dramatic change so publicly and quickly seems more shocking.”

At the time of her transformation, JoJo shared how she felt exploited when she was a child star.

“I saw people before me make this transition, I saw how much I loved it and also how much the world criticized us, so I’m ready for it.” she said People in March.

This also happened when she released her track, Karma.

JoJo has been saying that she doesn’t want people to forget about her and that she is entering a new phase of life.

The accompanying video showcased JoJo’s bold new looks and eye-catching styles.

“I was a bad girl, I did some bad things / I swear I did it all for fun and it meant nothing,” are her lyrics.

NEW BEGINNINGS

Feuerman stated that JoJo truly ushered in a new era.

“JoJo has been saying that she doesn’t want people to forget her and that she is entering a new phase of life,” she said.

“She’s an adult now and wants to make sure everyone is happy about it.

“Maybe it’s possible that she wasn’t happy before.

“It could just be her looking at it saying, ‘That was me when I was a kid, and this is me now.’”

JoJo rose to fame in 2013 when she appeared on the reality show Dance Moms.

The 9-year-old’s energetic moves and cute appearance captivated fans.

JoJo released singles like Boomerang in 2016, attracting 940 million views on YouTube.

In 2018, JoJo was touring and collaborating with Nickelodeon.

Some of her fans, followers and people who love her are probably quite young.

JoJo also recorded a video with North West.

In 2021, she appeared on social media as a member of the LGBTQ+ community.

JoJo’s mother, Jessalynn, a professional dance instructor, continues to support her daughter, and the two remain close to this day.

Along with JoJo’s transformation, her fan base continues to grow.

In April, she attracted 50,000 partygoers at Pride in Miami, which was said to be her biggest yet.

APPROPRIATE AGE

Feuerman said that despite her popularity, the star would need to take into consideration the age of her audience.

“Some of her fans and followers and people who love her are probably very young,” she said.

“They can be influenced, so JoJo should be aware of this and strive to be a role model.

“Some of the things she does and wants to promote, like LGTBQ, are wonderful causes.

Many celebrities tend to reinvent themselves at various points in their lives and careers,” she said.

“I would like her to use this power very carefully because what she says will be followed and influenced by many people.

“And if it’s for the good of people, great.

“But someone underage seeing the drink on stage, if they think it’s cool, will then try to drink from the bottle like JoJo did.

“I wish she knew how she influences a younger generation that still follows her.

“JoJo must begin to be aware of her significant influence.”

DOING LIKE MILEY

Feuerman recalled that other celebrities followed a similar path.

“Many celebrities tend to reinvent themselves at various points in their lives and careers,” she said.

“There are a lot of comparisons being made between Miley Cyrus and JoJo.

“It worked out well for Miley, which could also encourage JoJo to change.

“Miley is a good example because she was a Disney child star and was doing something similar.”

Miley, 31, shared how she carried difficult feelings for years after finding fame in 2006 as Hannah Montana at age 9.

The former Disney star struggled with body dysmorphia and later substance abuse issues.

She shocked fans when she posed in a bedsheet at age 15 for Vanity Fair in 2008.

It is quite notorious for a child star to struggle and face some psychological challenges while transitioning into adulthood.

Then came the famous tongue-twerking incident as a teenager on stage at the MTV Awards in 2013.

Miley appeared nude in a video for her track, Wrecking Ball.

“I carried some guilt and shame for years because of how much controversy and upset I actually caused,” she said. Vogue in 2023.

“Now that I’m an adult, I realize how harshly I was judged. I was judged harshly as a child by adults and now as an adult I realize that I would never judge a child harshly,” Miley said.

STAR CHILD

“Many child celebrities tell stories where they didn’t feel like they were treated right as children,” Feuerman added.

“Or they were abused in some way, so we don’t know.

“It is quite notorious for a child star to struggle and face some psychological challenges during the transition to adulthood.

“JoJo didn’t grow up in a typical way, so she lost some elements of a normal childhood and was in the public eye.

“All of these things could have impacted how she was treated.

“We don’t know everything she may have gone through personally.

“These aspects may have contributed to some of JoJo’s decisions, which may seem shocking to many now.”

“Unfortunately, with things that seem shocking, emotions are often negative,” Fuerman continued.

“Overall, it has a positive reaction or impact.

“If JoJo feels like she’s being positively reinforced, she’ll probably go through with it.

“Even though she’s getting a lot of criticism or people saying it’s not a good look or they don’t like it.”
