From couture runways to exclusive red carpet events, Bella Hadid is always turning heads — but some of her looks have caught your eye for all the wrong reasons.
While she may be a professional, the supermodel isn’t prone to wardrobe malfunction accidents like the rest of us.
Bella certainly has her own sense of style – and that means she tends to cause a stir.
“I’m right. I know what I like,” she said Vogue in 2022. “I’ve always done this, since I was young. And I never strayed.
“I look outside and see a hundred people dressed exactly like me, just because of what Instagram is.”
She’s also no stranger to exposing a little skin; after all, she is a regular at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.

It turns out that the model doesn’t think that real life and the catwalk are so different.
At the 2016 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show afterparty, Bella showed off her figure in a sheer Julien Macdonald gown.
Sheer enough to be considered lingerie, the silver dress features a deep V cut and is completely sheer from the waist down.

HE WAS ALMOST NAKED
Not one to shy away from a bold fashion moment, Bella showed a lot of skin at the 2017 amfAR charity gala during the 70th Cannes Film Festival.
Another transparent silver dress, the model shined in a Ralph and Russo dress embellished with diamonds – and nothing else.
The dress, made up of 22 fully embroidered panels, required around 30 skilled embroiderers and more than 3,000 hours of work.
What the dress lacked in coverage it made up for in detail, with a two-meter train cascading from the shoulders, ten different types of crystals and sequins, and 150 meters of hand-appliquéd silver chains.
A built-in sheer corset gave Bella support and shape.

WHOOPSIE WARDROBE MALFUNCTION
Bella’s main outfit at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival proved to be just as dangerous.
The model attended the premiere of Ismael’s Ghosts wearing a custom white Alexandre Vauthier dress with a high slit.
Although certainly more… opaque than some of her other outfits, the dress, with its plunging neckline and hip-high slit, also posed a problem.
She rushed to put her dress back in place after a wrong move exposed her flesh-toned panties.
The malfunction was the second year in a row for the model, following a similar incident that happened to her exactly a year earlier at the 69th Cannes Film Festival when she walked into the screening of The Unknown Girl.
Bella made the same mistake when she walked up the stairs in a red Alexandre Vauthier dress, also with a high slit and low neckline.

BUT IT’S FASHION, DAHLING
Never one to shy away from a fashion statement, Bella donned a controversial custom-made Alexander Wang jumpsuit at the 2017 Met Gala.
The theme was Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between, which paid homage to Japanese designer Rei Kawakubo’s avant-garde designs that play with the shape and form of the body.
Bella’s sheer black swimsuit with a plunging back was the talk of the town.
The model called the experience “stressful” in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar.
“I couldn’t pee because I was sewn up,” she said.
“At one point I put my foot in the wrong part of the mesh, so I had to take it off and put it back on. It was a hassle, but it was worth it.”
The fit also landed her on several worst-dressed lists that year, from Business Insider to Cosmopolitan to The Hollywood Reporter.

FLASHING THE FRENCH
Bella’s selection for the 77th Cannes Film Festival received considerable criticism from critics and fashion professionals.
One stylist said the sheer beige dress was “shocking” for the “sophisticated and elegant” festival and that the model “should have scaled back”.
New York stylist Tavia Sharp explained in an interview with The US Sun why she found the fit to be inappropriate.
“It seemed shocking that she had nothing covering at least some of her breasts,” she said.
“The color also matched her skin tone to help her stand out.
“Before Bella was the Queen of Cannes, but with this nude dress it went wrong for her.
“Bella seemed starved for attention.”

NO PANTS, NO PROBLEMS
Many celebrities have stepped out in their underwear, much to the chagrin of the fashion world.
Hailey Bieber, Kendall and Kylie Jenner and Kristen Stewart received criticism for stepping out in tight whites.
Although she is a world-class supermodel, Bella is no exception.
The usual trendsetter made yet another bold move as she roamed the streets of New York City wearing a pair of white boxers, a white t-shirt, a leather jacket and a pair of UGG boots.
While the outfit may have been, at the very least, weather-appropriate in September 2022, the “no pants” trend quickly proved to be a controversial fashion trend.

MODEL OUT OF SERVICE
Thank you, Bella Hadid, for showing the public that even models sometimes need help getting dressed.
The model earned sidelong glances from fashion fans in 2018 when she was photographed exploring Paris in a braless turtleneck.
She paired this with a plaid patchwork style blazer with a matching mini skirt, yellow striped sports socks and Balenciaga Triple S sneakers.
Her accessories – huge hoop earrings, red sunglasses and a belt-shaped fanny pack – also earned her some criticism.
While sneakers are certainly comfortable for walking around a metropolitan city, many, like critics of the Wall Street Journalargue that she could have made a better choice.
The publication explained its hatred for Balenciaga shoes, calling them “simply ugly.”
WSJ fashion writer Jacob Gallagher dubbed the shoe “purposely unattractive” and called it “the latest look-at-me gimmick to come off the runway.”
