KATY Perry and Orlando Bloom have been engaged for years, with friends and family probably wondering if their wedding will ever come to fruition.
A psychologist has weighed in on all this and claims that the Pirates of the Caribbean star’s new adrenaline-inducing TV efforts reveal exactly where the “eccentric couple” stand.
Orlando’s new TV series, Orlando Bloom: to the limitpremieres tonight on Peacock.
The three-part miniseries sees the British actor master extreme sports and activities.
This includes skydiving, rock climbing and underwater diving without an air tank.
Orlando, 47, was the executive producer of the series and said filming it was a challenge.
“I felt as close to death as possible. Things can go wrong quickly,” he said in the trailer.
Psychologist Jo Hemmings suggested that Orlando was focused above all on “pushing his limits.”
She claimed the adventure enthusiast was managing “threats of boredom” in his life.
SOLID AS A ROCK
“Orlando is trying its hardest in a bold and public way,” Hemmings told The US Sun.
“But Orlando and Katy were never your average Hollywood couple.
“They both feel there are new areas of life to explore and limits to break, but individually.
“Katy and Orlando are similar in their need to be relevant, dynamic and independent.
Katy and Orlando’s engagement meant a long-term commitment, but their relationship has been fragile.

“They’ve had a hard time, but Orlando is fighting any threat of boredom in his life.
“Orlando seems focused on facing his fears and pushing his limits.
“Katy and Orlando’s engagement meant a long-term commitment, but their relationship has been fragile.”
“Staying engaged long-term involves all the commitment, without the financial side of marriage as well,” she continued.
“But marriage can be too complex a subject for them to address.”
WORKING ON IT
The couple’s relationship journey has not been smooth.
Katy, 39, and Orlando got engaged in 2019, three years after meeting at a Golden Globes afterparty in 2016.
When they split for a while in 2017, it was reportedly because of work pressures.
Their relationship has always been a bit volatile. But this is not necessarily in the toxic sense.

“Before rumors or fabrications get out of hand, we can confirm that Orlando and Katy are occupying a respectful and loving space at this time,” a rep said at the time.
After getting back together in 2019, Orlando, who shares son Flynn, 11, with ex Miranda Kerr, offered insight into their relationship.
“Sometimes things are really, really, really challenging — I’m not going to lie,” he said To boast magazine.
He revealed that the pair were in “very different waters”.
The couple welcomed daughter Daisy Dove Bloom in 2020 and no wedding was planned.
THE SKY IS THE LIMIT
Hemmings agreed that their relationship seemed volatile, but assured that it was not “toxic.”
“Their relationship has always been a little volatile,” she said.
“But this is not necessarily in the toxic sense.
“Although they don’t always understand what the other is doing or why, they respect each other.
Katy will probably respect him even more for this now than she did before.

“He always said that they are very different people and that life together has challenges.
“They are a little eccentric in the way they live and present themselves to their fans.
“Orlando feels the need to try his hardest.”
“This is all to prove he can do it,” she said.
“Katy will probably respect him even more for that now than she did before.”
SO SHOE
Orlando’s love life has never been far from the headlines. He is known for talking about falling in love.
“I’m in love with love,” he said of his first high-profile relationship with actress Kate Bosworth in 2004.
“It’s wonderful when you’re falling in love with someone and you can’t stop thinking about them,” he said.
After splitting from Kate, the British actor dated Lindsay Lohan and Penelope Cruz.
Orlando also had a brief relationship with singer Selena Gomez.
Interestingly, the Lord of the Rings star is also known for following a unique daily routine.
Orlando once said The times that he had to “earn his breakfast” by walking first and listening to “some Nirvana or Stone Temple Pilots.”
ADJUST BY FIFTY
Hemmings said Orlando’s adventurous filming efforts would make Katy feel “excited” for him.
“On the Edge is the perfect title in many ways,” she said.
“All of this will make Katy feel excited for him and for him.
Orlando is proving to himself and Katy that he is just as capable as he was in his 20s, 30s and 40s.

“He is also approaching 50, a huge milestone for men.
“It’s a midlife transition, and being middle-aged has to be recognized.
“He’s making sure he stays as healthy as possible and Orlando is defying middle age.”
“He’s proving to himself and Katy that he’s just as capable as he was in his 20s, 30s and 40s,” she shared.
“This can make a big difference in self-esteem and confidence in the future.
“But Orlando is doing this for himself instead of trying to compete with Katy.”
THE ONLY WAY IS UP
Meanwhile, Katy is appearing on her final season of American Idol as pregnancy rumors continue to circulate.
In May 2023, a source told The US Sun that the Fireworks singer was “making up” the future.
They claimed the star wanted to have more children and focus on her music career.
“I’m just trying to make room for other things,” Katy also said Entertainment tonight.
Katy and Orlando have always been open and honest about their problems.

“It’s not like finishing this show means I’m going to retire on an island, even though that would be fabulous,” the star added.
Hemmings said the couple’s secret to a successful future together may lie in transparency.
“The ups and downs of Orlando and Katy’s relationship have been well documented,” she added.
“They were always open and honest about their problems.
“They also didn’t shy away from talking about their deep connection and love for each other.”
