A woman’s outfit choice for her friend’s big day risked doing just that, with people telling her it’s an “absolute no”.
On your Reddit publishuser Giminoo shared photos of her dress choice for the occasion.
She explained that she thought the look went well with the theme of her friend’s wedding.
“The bride’s dress code says formal and long evening dresses only,” the poster read.
She tried on the look, as well as showing another photo of him hanging it.
The beige sleeveless dress featured beaded details and a high neckline.
It also had mesh details that exposed her stomach and lower legs.
“I bought this dress a few years ago for a cruise I was taking, but I didn’t end up going on it, so it sat in my closet,” she explained.
“I was trying to use a dress I already own if possible.”
The Redditor added that she has another option available, but didn’t like it as much.
“I have another dress that my mom bought me a while ago, but I’ve avoided wearing it because I feel like it’s a bit ‘matronly’ for my age.”
Reddit users shared their thoughts on the dress in the comments section.
“I feel like I’m being tricked because in the first two photos it looks like you’re wearing a wedding dress. Don’t use this,” wrote one reader.
“I thought it was a wedding dress. It’s very clear,” agreed another person.
A third Redditor said the dress was “absolutely not wedding attire.”
“This is too close to a bridal color in my opinion,” said another commenter.
