SHOPAHOLIC presented the results of its “designer” acquisition from Türkiye.

The popular holiday destination has long been considered the “counterfeit capital” among Brits seeking designer styles for the price of a coffee.

A quick four-hour flight can take you to a bustling market selling “Gucci belts” for £3 and Louis “Fuitton” bags for £20.

Content creator Collien recently visited Antalya – recognized as the “tourism capital” of Turkey – for a shopping spree.

She returned with a whole new wardrobe, complete with a collection of copycat bags.

Among them was a version of Chloé’s leather and linen Woody bag worth £950 and a copy of Louis Vuitton’s £1,900 Nano Speedy bag in denim.

Collien also bought two knockoffs of the Longchamp Original Le Pliage Large Shoulder Bag £120 in navy and beige.

Taking a video to TikTok that has already surpassed one million views, she attracted thousands of comments.

Gullible shoppers were most intrigued by Collien’s naive Goyard Saint Louis PM Tote.

These bags are not available to buy online and most shoppers will opt to buy them second-hand worth £1,800 or more.

Collien allegedly bought the copycat bags for just £13.

Among his other bargains were a pair of fake Chanel sunglasses, knockoff White Fox sweatshirts and even football shirts.

“Maybe I’ll go to Turkey just to update my wardrobe,” one viewer commented on the viral video.

“This would all cost over £10,000 new,” suggested another.

However, not all viewers agreed with the practice of buying designer knockoffs.

“That could never be me,” said one critic.

Is it illegal to buy ‘designer’ dupes in Türkiye?

In Türkiye, purchasing counterfeit products is generally considered illegal.

If you purchase a counterfeit product for personal use, you are unlikely to be prosecuted – unless your purchase involves a significant quantity or the intention to resell.

Customs authorities have the power to stop and seize counterfeit products entering or leaving Turkey.

This means they can stop you when you get home and seize whatever stupid designer you bought on vacation.

“If you can’t afford the real deal, you shouldn’t buy the fake one,” wrote another.

Turkey is the third largest exporter of counterfeit products to the EU, behind only China and Hong Kong.

While it is illegal for suppliers to produce counterfeit products, it is not illegal for buyers to purchase them.

However, customs authorities have the power to stop and seize counterfeit goods entering or leaving Turkey.

And that includes tourists trying to take them home.
