A TOP Vinted seller has revealed the simple trick she uses to help boost sales – and the 90s items you should look out for in storage.

But while she was packing to move her home in Auchterarder for to study node university in Edinburgh she discovered a lot of clothes she could sell.

And since then she’s made almost £1,500 on the platform of choice, as well as racking up almost 250 five star comments.

The money she earns often goes towards buying clothes – but it also feeds her social life at university.

Macy, who is studying languages, said: “Before I moved to university, I was packing my bags and gathering all my things to take with me to my new apartment and I realized I had so many things, even things that still had the tags on them. in, which I simply never used.

“So I thought I’d try putting some stuff on Vinted to see what I can sell and see if I can make some extra money. money before going to university – and ended up doing really well.

“There was a lot of interest in my items and I’ve never stopped listing since.”

Macy sells a variety of clothing and accessories and finds that she has better luck with items and brands that are no longer on the street, such as Morgan and Jane Norman.

And she says the more specific you are about the items you’re posting on the app, the faster you’ll make sales.

Macy said, “I add measurements of the items in my listing, maybe the bust measurement of a top, the inseam length of pants, or the length of a skirt or dress.

“And I always sell items with the measurements included – it’s noticeable that they sell better.”

The Vinted pro also says it’s important to be honest about the products you post on the site.

She said: “Definitely have clear photos. I think it seems pretty obvious, but often listings have very dark or blurry photos and it’s hard to see what you’re actually going to get.

“Also, if the item you are selling has a defect, it is very important to take clear photos and mention it in the listing.”

One in six people now say they buy used items, according to to look for ordered via review site Trustpilot.

So now is the perfect time to earn some extra money with companies like Vinted.

According to the popular platform, sellers do not need to pay taxes on the earnings they make on the site.

This, HMRC said, is because the sale of personal items through platforms like Vinted is not taxable in itself.

What sells the fastest on Vinted?

According to the Vinted bosses:

  • Shoe are the fastest-selling category overall last year (2023-2024): in particular female coaches, flip flops and moccasins and men’s slippers, sandals and moccasins.
  • Swimwear and sportswear are the best-selling clothing categories. For women, sweaters and jackets were the best-selling items and, for men, shorts were the fastest.

  • Sportswear and costumes are among the best-selling children’s clothing.

”If the money a member makes on Vinted during a year is less than the amount they paid for the items they are selling, then there is no tax pay,” explained a Vinted spokesperson.

“Generally, only commercial sellers who “trade” for profit may need to pay taxes.

“A £1,000 tax-free allowance has been in place since 2017 for people trading for profit.”
