A former bride has been criticized for attending a friend’s nuptials in her spare wedding dress.
Wearing white on someone else’s wedding day is a taboo as old as time – but one woman decided to take it to the next level.
As reported by The MirrorInstead of buying a new dress for her friend’s romantic ceremony, the thrifty fashionista decided to wear her second-choice wedding dress.
She was boasting that the elegant floor-length dress, designed by Alice Temperley, had received “so many compliments”.
However, now that she’s worn it once, the woman is ready to part with it, flogging it on Amazon for just over £160.
Sharing a little more information about the designer piece, the seller wrote: “I wore this once recently as a wedding guest and received lots of compliments.
”It has since been professionally dry cleaned.”
I really hope it was a wedding where people were encouraged to wear white
Social media userReddit
”I originally bought it to be my wedding dress, but I was outvoted by my mother, who wanted me in something more traditional.
“It would work great as a special occasion dress or as a wedding dress for a more daring bride. The back is stunning.”
The ad was later discovered by a shocked online shopper who took a screenshot and rushed to Reddit to share the discovery.
“Seller openly admits he wore a wedding dress as a guest,” the stunned Amazon customer wrote in the caption of the post.
In response, a fellow user said: “Anyone else notice the comment about a ‘bolder bride’ maybe you could use it?
“I mean, that’s not what I’d call a ‘bold’ dress, unless you’re stupid enough to try and wear it to at least someone else’s wedding…”
Another added: “If she really got compliments, I really hope it was a wedding where people were encouraged to wear white.
”But otherwise, damn…”
Bridal expert reveals unmissable trends for 2024
Events expert Tsitsi Lynn Makuni said mini dresses, tying the knot and bold accessories are among this season’s wedding must-haves, The Sun previously reported.
TAP THE SHIFT – brides are opting for not one, but two dresses.
PULL UP YOUR SKIRTS – short dresses were a big hit on the Scottish Wedding Show’s October catwalk and Tsitsi said more bridal boutiques are now offering shorter styles.
BRIGHT NON-WHITE – white and ivory dresses are no longer a given as more designers offer pastel options, and we’ll see a demand for bolder colors too.
BE BOLD – the accessories will also be as bold as our dresses. Expect to see dramatic headbands, pearl-embellished veils, elegant gloves and retro sunglasses.
BOW DOWN – from small bows on hats and shoes to large bows on dresses, this is one wedding trend that shows no signs of slowing down, the expert revealed.
A third said: “Why do I get the feeling this was petty revenge against someone?
“She said her mother wouldn’t let her wear that dress to her own wedding, I wonder which wedding she wore it to. Her mother’s wedding?”
Someone thought: “I bet the compliments were like ‘How brave of you!’ and ‘That’s very bold of you!’, which is why she thinks this dress is ‘bold’.”
