WHEN it comes to someone else’s big day, there are several unwritten rules everyone should follow – including not upstaging the bride.

But one wedding guest has divided opinion online after sharing the dress she plans to wear on her friend’s special day, which will take place at a “Cool restaurant on the beach.”

Taking to Redditthe woman shared a photo of the tight dress in question, which appears to be white, characteristics several flowers in pastel tones, and has a very revealing a slit on the thigh.

After asking if the dress is “appropriate,” she noted that the bride and groom “didn’t really specify the dress code,” just the color palette which she says is “cream, pearl, oatmeal, sand, cashmere.” “

The wedding guest acknowledged, “Technically, in my country, it’s not that unacceptable to wear white to a wedding, just make sure you don’t outshine the bride and don’t wear anything black.

“I really like this dress and it fits me really well, but I’m still a little worried if it’s too white for a wedding.”

She added: “My family and friends said it’s okay because it’s patterned, quite casual and goes with the theme.”

Although she admitted she wasn’t sure what to do, it wasn’t long before social forum users took to the comments section to share their very honest opinions.

And many agreed that one feature in particular made the dress inappropriate.

“The model appears to be hiding her underwear with her thumb. The crack is too high to be appropriate,” wrote one.

A second agreed: “The slit is a little high in my opinion.

“If you go with it, make sure it stays closed, personally it wouldn’t bother me if I was the bride, but some people are conservative.”

A third commented: “Too light color and too high a thigh slit in my opinion.”

Meanwhile, a fourth noted: “The bottom of the dress is white so absolutely no, consider any other color.

“Anyway, it sounds like white might not be an issue for you, so I would ask the bride, given the high slit and bridal style of the dress.

Elsewhere, others noted that just because of the aforementioned color palette, they thought the dress would look good.

“Honestly, I would have said no, but it looks quite right for the color palette,” one wrote.

However, she advised, “As long as you avoid the traditional bridal style (no pearls, no elaborate hairstyles, etc.), I think it’s okay.

Top Wedding Trends of 2024

Sophie Creed, bridal designer and founder of bridal brand e&w Couture, shared this year’s wedding trends.

Guys, guys, guys

Brides are leaning toward modern minimalism with lots of personal touches that showcase their relationship as a couple in an overall wedding theme.

Sustainability is also a big trend for weddings, with brides opting for locally sourced and seasonal flowers and foods.

Sailing at sunset

There is a rise in bold sunset colors like pinks, corals, reds, and yellows when it comes to color schemes. Big bold bouquets and hued bridesmaids are coming into focus.

Fun and fancy stretchy shoes

A fun shoe is always at the top of brides’ lists this year, followed closely this year by a hair accessory that matches the dress, like a large bow or scrunchie.

The pockets are inside!

Modern, flattering silhouettes with bold fabric choices are the 2024 wedding dress trend.

Brides also love fuller skirts (with pockets), interesting back details and sophisticated plunging necklines.

Sleeves have been huge for us this season, but nothing too form-fitting, opting instead for romantic, flowing sleeves.

“A scarf or shawl that matches the pink or beige of the dress would help break up the white!”

Another agreed: “The dress is literally every color they mentioned. I think that’s why it’s okay.

“It doesn’t look pure white – it actually looks a little grayish or off-white to me.

‘If they go with cream and pearl, then it’s okay. I loved the color combination in the pattern.

And another added: “If that’s the color palette then it’s ok. But initially I was going to say don’t use it.
