As for how M&S managed to dominate the womenswear section on the high street, Maddy Evans, Womenswear Director, explained the challenge.
“Us [the team] I have a good aesthetic sense,” she said.
“We are trying to perfect every detail of a dress so that it fits and flatters most body shapes.
The team identified a series of “magic prices”, including £39.50 for dresses and jeans, where customers are happy to shop.
And clothes are “flying out of stores” because the brand “sees a trend, jumps on it and tests it very quickly” before it hits the rails for customers to buy. This is money revealed.
