A WOMAN has been criticized for wearing a white dress to a wedding despite not being the bride.
Mairead McKibbin took to social media to show off the dress that she said was gold, but many said it looked white and didn’t fit the vibe.
In the clip, she showed off the sparkling floor-length dress, with layered ruffles on the skirt.
The pricey £400 dress had spaghetti diamond straps and a corset-like bodice too.
But Mairhead, who captioned the post ‘Who the hell do I think I am?’ with the hashtags ‘wedding guest’ she was called out for her outfit.
It seemed like people were seriously unhappy with the brunette beauty opting for the dress to see her through wedding season.
“If someone wore this to my wedding they would go home with significantly less teeth than when they arrived,” one viewer wrote.
Another wrote: “You look AMAZING! But maybe the dress is too close to white for a wedding guest.”

Despite the negative comments, Mairhead didn’t want to hear their opinions and responded to the comments in another clip.
Dancing in the dress to show off her glow, she wrote: “I will face every one of you,” in reference to trolls saying she would be kicked in the teeth.
The clip has since gone viral on her TikTok account @mairead_mckibbinwith more than 325 thousand views and 5,000 likes.
Despite letting people know that she didn’t care what they thought of the dress, people took the comments in stride by agreeing that it was too much for a wedding guest.
One person wrote: “Stunning dress and you look amazing in it, but I have to agree with the ‘rule’ of not wearing white/cream dresses to a wedding.”
Another commented: “It’s totally beautiful, but not as a wedding guest outfit! Your base is more golden than this dress!”
“You look amazing, but giiiiiiiirl. That’s a bride,” wrote a third.
Meanwhile, a fourth said: “I think I get it. It’s a little close to ideal for a wedding. I’d probably wear something else, just in case.”
Clothing Etiquette for Wedding Guests
If you’re struggling to decide on a dress for wedding season, here are some rules on what not to wear so you don’t get into trouble.
- Folklore says that wearing red to a wedding means you slept with the groom.
- Casual attire like jeans and flip-flops should always be avoided.
- Any color that can be chosen like white or cream – even if it isn’t.
- Most would agree that your cleavage needs to be covered.
- Wearing white is a big no-no if you’re not the bride.
“I thought you were the bride,” said a fifth
Someone else added: “It’s white, maybe silver, but yes, very similar to bridal wear.”
