IF you’ve ever thought about selling items on Vinted, this article could be the push you need to start making some extra money.
Instead of just gaining a few extra pounds, one woman gained more than £1,400 after realizing the “big” mistake she was making.
While most of us struggle to make a sale, this has not been the case for Hollie Hoath.
In a now-viral video, the TikTok star revealed that she made an impressive amount of money in just 30 days (yes, you read that right).
At the peak of sales, her virtual wardrobe was seen by more than 85,000 people on the fashion app.
Instead of tracking how she managed to sell virtually every item she carries, the Vinted user decided to share her best-kept secret in a now-viral video.
Although she used many tips from other sellers, she now admits that she underestimated how powerful feedback could be.
She told her followers: “Post as often as you can, especially if you’re just starting out. Vintado. This will make your feedback look good because people [will] say you are fast.
While this may seem obvious, good feedback can have a snowball effect and encourage others to purchase an item simply because of your reviews.
For anyone who is having trouble getting to the post office or dropping off items for delivery, it’s important that you let your customers know.
Even if you’re only able to ship items at certain times of the week, Hollie recommends adding your schedule to each listing so buyers are aware.
While this may put some people off, it should help maintain a good overall ranking on your page.
However, it’s not just getting feedback that’s important.
Continuing, the super salesman revealed that responding to feedback is also often crucial.
In fact, the user admitted that she only started doing this after realizing how it could impact her sales.
“My last and final tip is to respond and leave comments,” she said, revealing that she often allowed Vinted to give automated responses.
Calling it a ‘big mistake’, the content creator explained: “When someone leaves feedback, people see you in the comments, which funnels more people to your page.
“People can [also] see if you are interacting [and] that you’re active…I’ve found that I’ve gotten a lot more feedback, a lot more comments on my page since I started leaving feedback for people.”
Although she may regret this mistake, Hollie more than made up for the mistake and made an impressive amount of money from the app in a short time.
If you’re still having trouble making a sale, she still suggests sharing a photo of someone wearing the clothes – especially if you don’t have one in the ad.
As she has changed sizes, Hollie says she has difficulty fitting into some of her clothes, so she often shares photos of the original website or store with potential buyers.
This tip can often result in a sale without much effort.
With all these new ways to win sales, you’ll be cleaning out your closet in no time.
Do you need to pay taxes on items sold on Vinted?

QUICK tax facts from the Vinted team…
- The only time an item may be taxable is if it sells for more than £6,000 and makes a profit (sold for more than you paid for it). You can still use your £3,000 capital gains tax-free allowance to offset it.
- Generally, only commercial sellers who trade for profit (buy goods with the aim of selling them for more than they paid for them) may have to pay taxes. Business sellers trading for profit can use a £1,000 tax break, which has been in place since 2017.
