EBAY is the official sponsor of Love Island once again, as it became the first pre-loved brand to work with the ITV series in 2022.

Providing clothes for the show, moving away from the fast fashion brands they have previously sponsored, contestants can be seen wearing models selected by eBay.

In a move to further encourage the nation to shop second-hand, eBay this week opened its doors to your Love Island wardrobe.

‘The Nations Shared Wardrobe’ opened to the public in London, seeing people bring in their unwanted clothes and swap them for something from their wardrobe on eBay.

And we were lucky enough to get a peek.

Brands included Miu Miu, House of CB, Dolce & Gabbana, Meshki, Acne, Prada – a host of designer brands.

We were even able to shop some of past Love Island contestants’ wardrobes, like eighth grader Tasha Ghouri’s iconic yellow Versace ensemble.

Tasha made so much use of her favorite outfits from her series that she worked with eBay after her time at Villa.

eBay’s Pre-Loved Style Director Amy Bannerman said: “Seeing incredible pre-loved pieces reappearing each season – like the Stussy men’s tie-dye jacket, the blue latex Versace dress, and the Rat and Boa dresses – is a great joy.

“By opening up the coveted Love Island wardrobe to fans, we are proving the power of circular fashion.”

And although the personal wardrobe was only open for one day, bargain hunters can also shop the exact Love Island wardrobe on the website.

From a Motel Rocks minidress for just £20 to Ray Ban sunglasses for just £50, there’s an entire section of the site dedicated to the Islanders’ wardrobe.

Brands like River Island, Monsoon and Dune London are partners with the secondhand site, meaning you can get pieces from your favorite high street brands for a fraction of the price.

With many pieces starting at just £20, it’s not just high street brands on eBay, there are plenty of designers to choose from without the high price tag.

Think Christian Louboutin shoes for £25, Vivianne Westwood flats for £40.

eBay also made some changes this year to the way it operates, deciding to get rid of selling fees and introducing AI-powered listings and digital IDs to make the whole process easier.

With 60% of 18-34 year olds now borrowing clothes from each other, second-hand shopping is thriving and there are lots of great deals available.

Top tips for changing clothes

Amy Bannerman, director of preloved style at eBay, is sharing her top tips:

  • Make the most of sharing with friends – It’s like shopping, but in your best friend’s closet (and free)! Why not make the most of the experience by putting on some music and doing a test session together?
  • Try new styles – If your friend has a different aesthetic, accept that. Try something you wouldn’t normally borrow and you never know, you might end up loving it.
  • Dive into its treasures – Ask the person you’re sharing with the story behind the piece and see where they’ve worn it before. You can suggest how to style it if it inspires them to rethink how they wear the item.
  • Make it clear the condition in which you want the item returned – Inform how it should be returned and whether it should be washed or dry cleaned depending on the item of clothing.
  • Share with someone new – When you’re done sharing among friends and housemates, especially now that it’s free to sell used clothes on eBay, list your unwanted jewelry to find someone who will love it.
