A fashionista has revealed which clothes will age you the most, revealing that your favorite summer dress could make you look a decade older.

If you weren’t already running to your closet, the stylist claims there are other items hiding in your closet that will make you look shorter and heavier.

Unlike other influencers, stylist Chi Li shares tips and tricks on YouTube.

Better known as Small SauceThe content creator helps women 5’4 and under look and feel their best.

However, there are some clothes she wants to banish from women’s wardrobes.

The first item headed to the charity shop was capri pants, although three-quarter lengths have made a comeback this summer.

Unfortunately, petite women should avoid this trend – according to the expert.

“They’ll make you look 10 years older,” the YouTuber complained, adding, “…and they make your legs look shorter.”

While the trend may work like Bella Hadid, shorter women should opt for longer pants that are “chic” and “easier to style.”

She even showed off the big impact they can have by swapping her low-slung capris for classic black pants.

If you’re under 5’4, you should probably avoid shapeless dresses this summer.

Although they may be comfortable as the temperature rises, don’t expect compliments – according to the fashionista.

Appearing in a loose linen dress, she told her followers: “Of course they are comfortable, [but] they make you look older and 10 pounds heavier.”

For those who still want to wear dresses this summer, the influencer suggests wearing ones with a defined waist.

While showing off her bright green dress, Chi Li explained, “No matter how old you are, defining your waist always makes you look better instantly.”

After rummaging through the back of her closet, there was one item of clothing that wouldn’t work: a loud print.

While you might think they add a pop of color to your outfit, the fashionista says they’re “distracting” and “difficult to wear.”

Even having a darker background won’t help this fashion faux pas, with the content creator demonstrating how unflattering dark prints are on petite women.

Instead, she says petite women should opt for “subtle” prints, like classic blue and white stripes.

While you couldn’t fault her ‘after’ looks, not everyone was convinced by the stylist.

Eager to maintain the bold patterns, one commented: “You’re going to rip my gaudy prints on dark backgrounds out of my cold, dead hands.”

Another added: “As a younger person, I think older people who wear colorful prints look more energetic and youthful!”

Others refused to give up their “shapeless dresses,” especially because they were so comfortable to wear during the day.

A third argued: “Shapeless dresses are my go-to for shopping and spa days… When I was younger, my mom used to say the ugliest outfit would look good if you had your own. hair done.”

Meanwhile, some were even happy to look older than they really are.

“I like looking older. No harassment from men,” said a fourth.

At least we can still keep our midi dresses.

Hottest trends for spring/summer 2024

Fabulous fashion editor Clemmie Fieldsend shared the biggest trends on the high street and runway this spring/summer.

SHORTS

I know, shorts for the summer. Innovative. But you’ll see them everywhere this year, from micro hotpants to long pants, denim shorts styles to tailoring and everything in between, they’re a must-have for any occasion.

WHITE

White often goes hand in hand with summer holidays, but whether you’re in the UK or abroad, you’ll see plenty of head-to-toe white looks.

The street is already a white wash with the trend including shoes and accessories.

HIGH SHINE

Whether metallic or sequins, for 2024 glitter isn’t just for Christmas.
Expect to see shimmery looks at festivals, weddings, or even a barbecue in your neighbor’s back garden, paired with bright blocks or simple whites.

LOOSE FUNDS

Baggy, baggy pants dominated our wardrobes from fall through winter, but as we head into the warmer months, expect baggy pants.
From cool cotton to lightweight linen, flowy pants should have a firm place in your wardrobe.

BOMBS

Ballet flats and Mary Janes have been making their way back into our good books for a while now, but for summer they feel less ballerina and more beach-ready.

Woven styles and knitted textures are hot on the runways and streets, think of the 2024 jelly shoe.

GO GIRL

All things romantic and feminine are in for spring with sheer fabrics, pastel shades of blue, yellow and pink dominating the runway. Embellished with bows, lace or flowers, most looks should have a hyper ‘feminine’ element.
