THRIFTER scored a great designer deal when they scored a luxury item for a dirt cheap price.
They praised the “goodwill gods” for discovering the fashion that only cost them 50 cents.
Reddit user Smokeletsgo2121 couldn’t believe what they saved at their local Goodwill.
They explained in a publish how they got a vintage Hermes scarf.
“Nothing like a perfect condition Hermes scarf for 50 cents, amirite?” they wrote in the caption.
The vintage silk item was 34” x 34” and was designed by French artist Françoise de la Perriere.
The nautical-themed accessory is selling for $499.89 on the retailer’s website 1stDibs.
According to the website, it was probably designed in the 1960s.
After getting it for just 50 cents, that’s almost a 1,000% reduction.
“Wow, you were the favorite of the Economy Gods today! Congratulations, it’s beautiful,” wrote another Redditor.
They responded that it was the “due” time.
The scarf designs were also a common topic of conversation.
A history buff explained that the scarf’s pattern depicts boats from East and Southeast Asia, including Hong Kong.
Another Reddit user from Hong Kong commented that he wanted this for himself.
“It represents an important historical art of the Chinese and the unique characteristics of Junks/Sampans,” replied the Redditor.
“It definitely sets them apart from the typical fixed-sail ships that the rest of the world used.”
“The amount of detail they put into a scarf is crazy,” wrote another.
“Definitely, de la Perriere was there from 1953 to 1995, I believe, and has some pretty wild pieces,” the poster agreed.
